This game taught me how to type. Nothing motivates you to learn how to type quickly better than a pixelated floor buffer.

Space Invaders and Castle Wolfenstein... on an Apple II.

A friend had a Coleco Vision with Pong, Frogger, Donkey Kong and a few other games I can't recall.

very impressive and I do believe you. I just was not meant to play that one.

Another one that is insanely hard to bet - Kid Icarus. Loved the game but man..

Never played it much. Tried it on NES Remix on the Wii U and it was really fun. I think I would like it

Give it a go. The good news is that it gives you a code so you can restart at that level at any time. Still a tough game though.

That's definitely a good thing. I mentioned Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden as tough games I've beat but they both give you unlimited continues. I need them

I kind of believe you. I never was able to land except maybe 1-2 times. Then again, I was like 9.

I liked F117-A Stealth Fighter more. That was probably my favorite flight game back in the DOS day.

One of my cousins used to come and spend a week at our house every summer. He was close in age to my older brother, so they usually played together. One year, we had gotten an NES at a yard sale, so he and my brother spent that week playing Legend of Zelda. On the day before he was supposed to go home, he had gotten to the final labyrinth. I had to walk in front of the screen so I could get to the dresser, and I tripped on the wire for the controller, causing the controller to become unplugged, and causing the game to malfunction. When we restarted the NES, all of the save files were gone. He has still never forgiven me.

I really think the inverted axis is what threw people off. And it tells you what the goal speed and altitude is. The way i approached before the landing sequence seems to make a difference too. Go back and try it now that you've played other flight sims

That's classic. I've been there. I've beaten a level and then jolted the Nintendo into reset when I was jumping around excited.

Nah,

My brothers like to go back and play the old games, but for me, they just make me think 'I can't believe I found this entertaining'.

You shameless bumper. SHAMELESS.

But thank you.

Old School:
I pretty much grew up on Nintendo systems. So lots of Zelda, Super Mario Bros, and Donkey Kong were standards.

As silly as it sounds, I loved the hell out of some Ducktales on NES. Don't judge me.

I also grew up on standard, stand alone arcade games like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Pacman (the sit down at Pizza Hut throwback), and just good ol' fashioned pinball.

Then there's old CPU throwbacks like Baldur's Gate and Rollercoaster Tycoon.

There's an annual arcade convention here in early March where you pay a flat rate of $20 and you get unlimited play on pretty much every console that's been released and rooms full on arcade games. Love it.

Now a days:
Assassin's Creed series, Skyrim, and here lately the Game of Thrones Telltale series. I just don't game that much anymore.

I'm judging you for having great tastes. That game rules.

I'm also jealous that you got to play MK and Street Fighter in the arcade a lot. Arcade games were a special treat for us, always had to wait for the home console versions. Small towns

You can play most systems off a website. Look up online console. Or you can download emulators for free. My laptop sucks and it will play up Playstation and N64 level emulations.

a) Get a real NES (~$20) + Everdrive or Chinese knock-off (every game ever)
b) emulate on computer, get usb adapter for original controller on a site like retrotowers. A regular laptop can run an NES emulator no problem, you can hook that up to a tv

Please give me step by step exact instructions. Pretend I'm an absolute retard.

I know how to connect to tv with hdmi.

That's it.

Please.... please help me.

I started this topic last year on the LSU tech board and it was just blah blah blah blah with people talking over my head or otherwise treating me like an idiot.

Please...
