Same with abortion, drugs, and guys who'd rather be girls. There are a whole lot of more serious issues that we COULD get all worked up over and actually do something about.

What I want more than anything is to educate these misinformed people into thinking that racism isn't ok, and I believe that starts with awareness of reprehensible acts like this where people talk to their friends, and parents talk to their kids about it and they decide that these things shouldn't be happening.
I'm not saying things are going to change overnight, but we've definitely progressed over the last 20-30 years in ending racism, we just need to realize we are nowhere near finished with it.

Lambasting foolish acts like these in the court of public opinion is precisely the correct thing to do about it.
No one is saying racism can/will ever be completely eradicated.
But it doesn't have to be tolerated. At all. I don't care how much "ignorance" is pled.

They are on precisely the same page in this regard:
1) The world would probably be better off without them. (There'd be a whole lot of happier wives, anyway).
2) Attempting to make the world a better place via legislated morality is, as it always has been, FUBAR.

C'mon man, it may not be a lot, and it's definitely not as much as I would like to see, but to say there hasn't been progress is absurd. The chances a black man gets voted into the presidential office 20-30 years ago is around 0%.

Racism doesn't only affect black people. The last 10+ years, our War on Terrorism has turned into a War on Arabs to a lot of people.

and that war on arabs is a whole lot better than what the war on black people was. there are actual laws in place to protect minorities now, not to keep them disenfranchised, we have a president who is a minority, our mass media (movies, tv, etc) is more diverse than it ever has been. just because racism still exists, it doesn't mean American society hasn't progressed in regards to race relations

This is unfortunately true, but look at how Australia responded to Arabs taking the subway after the hostage situation. I think that was a real positive in society. And if you're still questioning the progress of racism towards blacks, go watch Oprah's segment from Forsyth County in Georgia in 1987, and then the most recent one she did there. More progress has been made than you think.
