I'm not too far off that mark but I also can close deals, support customers, and work from a boat with a line in the water or in my underwear.

I'm not saying I work 8 hours a day 360 days out of the year but I'm doing something work related 360 days out of the year.

Me too, but I assume Crompdaddy (Phat Phil) wasn't thinking about us self employed/small business owners when he decided to show his stupid arse with this thread.

You own a business?

That's a worrisome thought.

yeah. i mean i sincerely do get the idea of "why do we work so much more than everywhere else" question.

the issue is touched by several on this thread, but we have the greatest possibility for success and salary of anywhere in the world. if you want to make decent money and get a lot of vacation, teach. you want to not make a ton of money, get decent time off and have low stress, the world is your oyster with clerical, construction, sales work.

you want to make a ton of money and do what it takes to get there? you can do it. you might have to miss some time with family and work 360 days a year.

i graduated HS without one bit of help from mom and dad and got my way through college without debt. i chose to scrimp and save and miss meals in college to graduate free and clear. no partying, no tailgating, no trips. work and off hour classes for 4.5 years. it wasn't fun but i don't have debt.

i started off with a pretty crappy 30k a year job right out of school and have improved my position over the last 10 years to making over 3x that, really loving what i do. (sorry if it's a subtle brag)

be valuable and get what you want in the world. don't bitch because somebody didn't give it to you and sure as heck don't piss and moan to the government to make them.

Seriously though, we need more of that entrepreneurial spirit.

Lol, no. At this point though, my residual income from 12 years of breaking my arse affords me the free time to post on here.

There's the dream, guys! Bust your arse non-stop for a decade+ and eventually you, too, can average 20 posts per day on an online msg bd forum.

FWIW, while I prefer a capitalist society, we really need to decide if we truly want to be capitalist or socialist and stop straddling the line because it's really fricking shite up.

Russia called. They said we are better off straddling the line.
