He knew it would be a waste of time, just like Biden.

I wish Carson actually wanted to be President.

And y'all have done a wonderful job answering my question. This shite flinging going on this thread. This is why our government is shite.

I actually rarely call people racist.

If you can't see there was a vein of white nationalism behind Trump's ascension to the GOP nomination, then I can't help you. And those seeds were planted in 2008 when Obama won the Presidency.

Technically they were planted back in Nixon's time, but we'll keep it in more modern times.

It was Obama and his administration that attacked citizens' rights and spent 8 yrs race baiting.

As to how it came to this, I don't think it's any coincidence this is the first election I've seen since 2000 where the polls where I live had an actual line out of the door. People are tired of the establishment but they also didn't bother to vote.

Only 30% of Kentuckians voted in the last election for Governor. The apathy finally bit people in the arse. It's been an even lower turnout when we've had more local elections. That trend is probably pretty consistent across the country. That's our largest issue. When you stop caring on a local level, it breeds all of the bullshite at the top. They all start somewhere.

agreed. i've softened on Obama in my later years. i by no means agree with him on anything, but he was idealistic and was doing the best as he saw the world.

His approval rating is higher than Reagan's at the end.

Sure there is. I have no problem acknowledging that it exists.

The difference is that I'll say it but I seriously doubt you will recognize that Obama got a great deal of support solely because of his race and he's spent the last 8 years interjecting himself into local issues with a race angle (virtually every time on the side eventually proven to be factually wrong) in a fashion that served to worsen the situation.

The night he was elected, I knew I wouldn't care for his policies but my one hope was that he'd help improve race relations. Instead he's poured gas and threw matches.

I am not political but just being a human being, I do not understand how people can not see how big of a mistake Obama was. It shows that people will do what they always have done and there are "sides". And that people on sides will not change.

Very sad

Why was it a mistake if we as a country learned from the policies he didn't like. I know TONS of people my age that voted for Obama the first time, but not the second. That shows to me people looking past identity politics and hype and actually focusing on track record.

You sound like my dad. Too bad we all get lumped in. I was hoping America would see this and realize how fricking ridiculous it is.

Instead it's MAGA everywhere vs Love Trumps Hate. So I went in the booth, look America in the eye and said "you want ridiculous, I'll show you ridiculous."

He absolutely did, but I don't see how that is germane to the subject.
