b-deezy! good to see ya my friend. Heard tell those Dawgs of yours have a big game this weekend

I could tell anecdotes until the cows come home about overt and accidental racism I've experienced, but it'd be nothing we haven't all heard before. Mainly there are a lot of minor day to day things that serve as a reminder of one's minority status. I don't resent such instances. I can only control what's under my purview and 9 times out of 10, everything works out ok.

What bothers me more now is if/when wifey has to deal with hints of racism. I'll never forget the first comment my grandma (a Michigander) and one of my uncles (a Texan) asked me after they heard my then-girlfriend's first name was "that sounds like a white name." Took me aback just because that obviously shaped the conversation from there instead of focusing on more important, normal relationship stuff.

Racism/prejudice/what have you isn't about blaming whitey or blackey or blowing up situations or sweeping them under the rug. It's about building everyone's comfort zones and horizons to the point that melanin levels are no more important than any other body/facial feature in our everyday lives. America has come a LONG way in that regard in an amazingly short time. There's always room for improvement, but all things considered, I love being a swarthy Texan American in the year 2014. Wouldn't have it any other way.

You're talking to the 2012 Racial Draft first round pick to #TeamWhitey, remember?

Context, mostly. Like any descriptor. I don't know why some try to make it all or nothing one way or the other.

And for the record, it's hardly always kosher between two black people.

What we need is some form of distinction. There needs to be an equivalent of "white trash" for black people. If someone in our race is trashy they get ostracized. Decent black people should be more like Bill Cosby, call the others out on their shite. Ostracize the people who embarrass your race. Make it socially unacceptable to be an illiterate hoodrat ghetto thug criminal or whatever. I don't think it's unacceptable right now in certain places. It's part of the culture.

That does happen. More than you realize. But I also do not identify with the acts of other black people just because I am black. What happened in places like Ferguson or seeing some black frickup get arrested does not embarrass me, nor do I deem it to reflect on me in any tangible way.

There are seedy parts of any culture. Can't spend 24/7 in denunciation of it. Just live well and encourage others to do the same no matter their skin tone.

Probably does in the real world. But our liberal media and the Democrat party are scared of black people. Scared of being called racist. They will only present the victim narrative. And now everything has to be framed that way. Goddamnit white people.

This

Hell, Denham Springs could have an entire AA police force and it wouldn't affect me either damn way.

I choose to be productive and not break laws.....blame others for my problems....etc

Treat everyone with respect and 95% of the world will return that respect.

They are loathe to lose the carte blanche support that a majority of black people provide for them, I agree. They'll do anything to retain said support, and it's galling.

The problem seems more profound in black communities -- the rates of arrest can't all be attributed to the "system".

And we've already beaten the horse of the disproportionate response from not only the black community, but the black leaders when there's a case of a black community (like 100+ youths beating two Kroger employees senseless and stomping on their heads) -- they seem to be ghosts.

There have got to be better black people available for leadership roles who aren't connected to figureheads like Jackson and Sharpton who are consistently used as lightning rods by opponents.

Thinking of black people as a collective in need of "leaders" is not a good place to start, I'm sorry.

Yeah. I don't get the constant cry from whitey to have more black "leaders" speaking on issues the way whitey thinks they should.

Problems are not solved by leaders. They're solved in the micro at the family level.
