Gant's AAU coach flat said that if Fuller stays, Gant stays. If Fuller leaves, Gant opens it up.

It seems as though generally, college coaches will prefer a HC job at any level over an assistant position even at the highest levels - but this would be an interesting test of that cuz Florida A&M would certainly seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel, I'd be curious how the HC salary there compares to the associate HC salary at Mizzou, honestly have no idea what a HC at a spot like FAMU makes.

Could be considered bad form, but FIJItiger is without question the best basketball poster on Tigerboard.

Here is his take on the attitude Alden should have:

Here is what he knows about the search:

The only thing I could see about the search is someone is a little moody.

I go to Tigerboard when I want to witness men going through menopause.

I have been having fun poking sticks at the Kim Anderson crowd.

That's a fun group to poke sticks at.

What's Rich Daly doing these days?

Give him $500k a year, an expense account and turn him loose in Atlanta/Miami/Nashville/Memphis. We'd rule the SEC.

Rethinking this. Why is Fuller not being given more consideration for HC? He was Haith's best recruiter and the team played much better when he was acting HC. He really was the best part of Haith. Plus he seems loyal to mizzou.

That's what I figured, we have to be honest nobody wants this job anymore. Put all the funds in football we gave hoops one last try.

This is crazy. We are going to make someone the top 25 paid coach in the nation, bare minimum, in a major conference with great facilities. I don't get why there's all the Negatiger response on this.

Look at it this way: Mike Anderson won 31 games here once. Remind an Arky fan of that and watch their jaw drop.

Frank Haith won 30 games here once. This board still can't reconcile that at all, it just doesn't compute.

Quin Snyder won 25 games and went to the Elite Eight here once.

Given the total context of the above coaches' careers, you could almost make the argument that its nearly impossible NOT to win at Mizzou.

How do people feel about search firms doing most of the work on this type of decision?

I don't understand it.

I can see having a search committee that is associated with the university, but I don't understand paying an outside firm to essentially make a decision for you.

I can understand paying an outside firm to run background checks ect, but from that post that is linked it sounds like the firm has a stronger hold on this than running background checks.

There's a reason that Alden had to settle for Haith in the first place. That means NOBODY WANTED THE JOB. And they stll don't. As long as Alden is here no good coach will work for him despite what they pay.

FWIW, I don't think this is happening. No search firm really wants to be responsible for the final decision. Too much liability. They just provide info and a channel for communication.

Marshall has a crappy reputation, too. It's not going to stop anyone from hiring him ultimately. Any D1 coach who can't manage a relationship with Mike Alden is going to have a lot of other problems as well.
