I could see Alden taking the easy way out and going with Anderson. Which I think would be fine.

The scary thing is does he pull in someone none of us is thinking of, like he did last time

Safe to say Marshall and Smart are probably pipe dreams?

The rumblings around Las Vegas (I have nothing to back this statement up other than fairly nationally intelligent local hosts' comments) is that Smart is wanting to make a move.

That being said, I figure we'd have heard more about it with the other openings if it was true.

So, to answer your question, yes.

Jeff Goodman mentioned Archie Miller, Craig Neal, and Tim Miles.

I like Howland, but he was a mess here at UCLA.

My UCLA booster inlaws all think he was clueless when it came to the pulse of the team.

Plus, there was that SI article.

If it makes us feel better at all, the local station just did a few minutes on Mizzou/Haith and said Smart to Mizzou would make sense.

Again, local people so it is what it is. However, the local Vegas sports radio does tend to be a lot less homerish/biased to conference/whatever due to the sports betting angle. These guys know a lot about what's happening nationally to try to get the best sports info available out there.

Yeah, still a pipe dream.

I'm just bringing names up. There hasn't been too much talk around him in other positions, so I don't know what his deal is.

I don't think I'd like watching Mizzou Howland basketball, but I don't think I'd be disappointed if he was the guy.

ETA: I don't see it happening due to the whole scandal thing, but you know...SEC!

I know it's a pretty dumb idea, but I figure we'll get some talk going in this thread.

Quin Snyder

He's a lot more mature, he's doing the NBA thing for a while, did the flathead basketball league as a coach, D League, etc, etc, etc. They like him in the NBA.

Why not? Maybe he has given up the blow and won't bang everyone's girlfriends.

He's still got a pedigree and has moved around a lot, maybe it's time for him to settle down and appreciate.

Lol.

I think Alden felt like he had egg on his face with the NCAA investigation of Haith from Miami, rightly or wrongly. I don't think he gets close to someone who has checked baggage - Snyder, Eustachy, Howland.

He can bang my girlfriend if he agrees to come back. Just leave my wife alone.

Given the money they reportedly are looking for I don't think they would be worth it. Lots of other good names. But if Alden wants to shell out they are in play. But then if he spends that much on a bball coach he's going to have to renegotiate Pinkle so I don't think it happens

No way Snyder gets back. I'd bet my daughter's college fund on it

Word on the street in Wichita is that Marshall isn't seriously considering moving til his kid graduates high school next year. FWIW.

Would be fun to try and rank them in order of likelihood. Probably wouldn't get close but still be fun.
Howland would take it if offered right now me thinks (not that he is who I want)
