I saw Putnam play this past year in his game vs Concord. Concord had a good team this past year, they were 12-1 with their first loss coming in an upset n the playoffs. That game against Putnam and Hickory Ridge though, Putnam tossed them around. He's quick for his size, but he's just not in a great HS Football program. They were good last year and went 10-3, but they only won 4 games the previous year, and have only had 3 winning seasons out of the past 8 years.

2016 DE prospect Cecil Stallings has committed to USC today. Anywhere from 6-3, 240 (scout.com), 6-4, 250 (Rivals), to 6-5, 253 (247Sports), he's from Tucker High in Atlanta and was recruited by Ward. His offers include UT, GT, Indiana, Miami, Miss St., NC St., Penn St., Texas A&M, Wisconsin, and Wake Forest among others...

This is a good pickup. His offer list is solid for a 3*. Also, he's a good student, so we won't have to sweat a year from now.

3* WR Tre Jackson committed to SC last night. His dad played for Spurrier at uf, and was an All SEC/consensus All American WR who also played in the NFL.
Tre's decision came down to SC, Oklahoma, unc, and Kansas St. He's a speedy WR, that plays both DB and WR in HS.

He's a playmaker. They used him as a WR, DB, KR, and PR. The reel itself was actually pretty comprehensive and he had a lot of INT's and big plays. I even like how they showed a fair amount of his blocking ability downfield for other WR's.
He cuts well in traffic and in space. He has good field vision and can see the lanes develop based on defenders' positioning/inertia. He is fast, but not as fast as I thought he was going to be. I think he makes a lot of smart plays and so maybe that's why his stats were better (not so much a dominating athlete, but he knows what he's doing out there.) He has good body control and made some nice catches on marginally well thrown balls. He gets two hands on the ball before contact. I think he blocks aggressively for his size. The play at the 2:05 mark made me laugh.
I think he could play DB or WR for us, I think we are primarily looking at him as a WR though. Really nice pickup. He was a former florida commit.

SC will have the "Showcase" or "Black Magic" Cookout this weekend. It's an invite only event for some of our recruits.
Some of the sites are reporting to watch out for a potential commitment from 3*/4* WR Kelvin Harmon (he plays on the same summer 7v7 team as McIlwain.)
Also, 4 4* WDE Jordan Smith will be visiting the Cook Out as well and he named SC as his leader today. clemson was the previous leader since June. A weekend commitment is possible, Whammy is his recruiter.

The SC Pool Party/Cook Out is this weekend and starts today. This was an invite-only event. They are going to be touring the new and existing facilities, academic buildings, Dodie Academic Center, and most importantly 650 Lincoln (the new athlete housing, pool, dining, shopping, etc....)

4* DB Marlon Character has had USC high on his list for some time now. After visiting USC for their cookout, he now has named the Gamecocks as the leader for him, and that his decision is on a day-to-day basis, so I guess he could be considered on commitment watch....
