Can it be mitigated by vaccine? For some yes for others fighting it in a hospital bed right now that is vaccinated not so much.
That’s why I am okay with whatever each person chooses to do for themselves and their family.

Already had it. The Covid was fine. The pneumonia that followed the Covid sucked.

NTY Sput but I find this thread amazing and should be archived for study one day by someone much smarter than me. This thread quickly devolved into a pro vax/anti vax/pro choice conversation. I find myself on the latter side of those options and conclude that to each is own. That being said, the argument has ensued as an indictment of Coach Harsin (pro choice) and he should somehow be a savior of young men and should be grandstanding and demanding all of his players be vaxxed. When in fact he said, it was a personal decision for each of his players and he is making all resources available to them to make that decision themselves. I don't know about each of you, but I think I'd appreciate a coach, coaching/caring/guiding me instead of demanding me to do something, especially as private as a personal healthcare issue. I think our players are old enough to make informed decisions themselves by now. Our players mind you, that are full of piss and vinegar, and in each others faces every rep they take on the football field, can catch the virus as easy as you or me at anytime or any place, vax/no-vax. The CDC has said that the vax neither stops contraction or spread of the virus, it may just slow it down to a degree and prevent it from being life threatening. So why the indictment and placing it all on the coaches shoulders when data shows they are not in the high risk demographic to begin with?

The problem is being pro choice doesn’t solve the constant testing problem that can turn into a competitive disadvantage.

What happened to the HIPPA laws with respect to personal medical information on vaccinations? Do we now need to report whether or not one got vaccinated for seasonal flu, shingles, tetanus, pneumonia? Or, just Covid vaccination?

So a coach should sell out his own personal pro-choice beliefs to win a few ballgames?

He isn’t getting paid for his moral compass. Having an abundance of caution isn’t the worst thing anyhow. He is paid to coach and that is something he will not be doing for a week or so. Sometimes people have to do things they don’t want to do just to pay the bills each week.

We are paying a lot of coaches that aren’t even in the program. I can handle a week.

If it’s for the betterment of the team yes. His job is to win games not be a Scientologist. We are starting the season already at a disadvantage because of him.

Hippo laws are there for a reason. They’re irrelevant here. Point is if we had met the vaccination threshold we might not be talking about this right now.

So is it about winning or protecting the players health? Seems like you've got a lot of communist tendencies.

HIPPA laws are to protect each person’s medical information to only between you and your doctor. Unless you decide to make others aware. Is your vaccination record medical information?

Which if true is pathetic. Influence/force players/coaches to take an emergency approved vaccine so we don’t get penalized.
I don’t think a coach should have the right or obligation. He already has made everything available to the program to make their choice. All that should be expected from him to do.
What if a player dies from an adverse affect or has permanent health issues taking the vaccine? Then what would the story be among us. That should be up to an individual/their family/and their Dr should they include one.
My last comment in here.

The kids should be okay with Covid. Obviously shouldn’t play with it. I’m all about winning. We all should be. If you cannot see the competitive disadvantage of constant testing then I’ll just let it go.

lmao so true. I think about the titty bar scene a lot whenever our players play like they just woke up in a strip club parking lot.

JFC dude, there's your fricking problem. This shite is bigger than winning/losing a damn football game. Competitive disadvantage or not, I'd want my coach opening up all resources for me to make my own decision and not forcing me into one just to win a damn football game.

Cavalier?
I guess I missed something.
I thought he said “people get to make a choice about the vaccine.”
“Dr Goodlet and the medical staff are educating”
I took the shots the first day I could.
My family all chose to take the vaccine.
Many people made a different choice than I did.
I’m not sure what Coach Harsin or I can do to make it where players make a choice to get vaccinated or not.

Not entering the vaccinate/don’t vaccinate conversation but HIPAA doesn’t apply to as many things as folks think it does. It keeps your physician, their office, your insurance, etc., from disclosing your information without permission but outside of covered entities it doesn’t apply to anything else.
In almost any situation you can decline disclose for any reason. HIPAA just isn’t involved in it.
HIPAA is a really limited law with a lot of exceptions. I don’t blame anyone for not knowing it’s ins and outs.
