Last year we played Clemson very close. 19 - 13 close. With a competent offense, we would have won that game. Our defense looks just as good as it did last year, although I can't make an informed assessment on our offense from the current sample size. That being said, I think it is fair to say that we should put a few more points on the board given our current offensive personnel.

Clemson looks good. Again, the eye test is very hard to trust given their opponent last week. My gut tells me that if we can put up 24+ points, we win the game.

Prediction: Auburn 24 - Clemson 17

Clemson looked great playing a real bad team and we looked good on D playing a overmatched team. Our offense looked like a mixed bag. Once again play calling is still dog shite. Almost like they draw the shite up in the dirt. I expect we will lose the game. Will be a little worse than last year, our offense will look awful.

Yeah, how could Stidham be worse than that 3 headed abortion last year?

We were a tipped pass in the endzone from beating those jokers.

How is our offense worse overall? They don't have Watson.

Confident our D will keep us in the game. Not confident we can sustain drives and keep them off them field. I'm staying Posi though AU 27 Clemson 20

We can be a better team than last year and lose by more points. It happens

I don't believe the quote I was addressing was speaking only to our Clemson game. I believe they meant the entire season.

I just want to see us play on offense like we know what the frick we're doing.

Win or lose.

Just look well-coached and well-drilled. If you get beat because the other guys are BETTER, then you get beat.

Don't think I forgot that you ignored my text, you bastard.

Not worried about the defense. They'll have their hands full for sure, but I think we will get enough pressure on the QB to force a few mistakes.

My main concern is our OL in pass pro. It was attrocious last night against a vastly overmatched opponent.

Felt confident before Saturday. Thought they would have kinks on offense since they lost so much, but they seemed to be fine against a high school team while we were the ones turning the ball over three times.

I fear for Stidham. If Saturday was any indication, he may see the turf a fair bit.

That said, frick Dabo and I hope we beat them embarrassingly bad and then ESPN continues to remind the world that of our 50 ish meetings they've only won 14 and their first coach came from Auburn and took colors, mascot, etc. (I have a special spot of hatred for Clemson)

I'm with you, DC redeems himself going 4/4 with the last being a go ahead or game winner and we beat Clemson 26-24. I just have a feeling we'll go herp derp in the RZ because Gus and that's why we'll kick four field goals. I hope I'm wrong though.

This jumped out at me over at SEC Country:

quote:

Only 5 of Stidham’s 24 pass attempts on Saturday came on first down. More than half of his attempts on A-Day were on first down.

I dont doubt it was a vanilla gameplan, but the execution, especially by the O line was not good at all. This is what bothers me the most.

I keep hearing this.

I will solicit the collective widsom of the 'Rant, however. How dangerous is it - really - to test your guns before the fight? I don't mean every weapon, every strategem. But does Clempson really have that much of an advantage knowing more of our route trees and RPO plays?

Balance this against the value of the reps you get with an Offense that is clearly rusty top to bottom. Gus clearly thinks more of his planning than he does of the 4-star talent that he has on the team. Beatbammer said it best...

It's not like we are a scrub team, trying to backdoor our way into the playoffs. We have the talent. Ball-out.

If Gus continues to try be clever all season, we are going to lose games.

I stopped reading after this. How can you call Clemson "great" and then say Auburns defense only looked "good." If the performance Auburns defense put on Saturday night doesn't qualify as great I don't think you will ever be satisfied. I don't care who the competition was against, not too mention it was way better than Clemsons opponent.

Golfntiger is just a bitch. Don't worry about him

There is a big concern with our O struggling vs GSU. Our defense should be fine though
