Baylor is an expensive private school.

They also get to accept whomever they want without regard to the top 10% rule, which pretty much makes A&M everybody's backup school.

Expensive? Yes, but its not that great of a school at all. It is usually 4th or worse on the private school list in Texas.

Head should roll in Starkville. MSU used to be in the 120s, and even made a run at the top 100 once, which is somewhat respectable. Being that far behind the rest of the conference being ranked behind Louisville is awful.

I'll never understand why people care so much about this stuff. There are millionaires who graduated from Harvard and there are millionaires who graduated from Miss State. I have friends who went to Duke, BU, Michigan, and Penn who had worthless majors that are $200k in the hole with no job or a low paying job.

Exactly, it still comes down to the individual. The richest person I know graduated from Cal State San Bernardino.

By the way, Ohio state and Florida have enormous class sizes yet they rank high on the list.

Because both schools are good at other components that can compensate for that score. Class size is worth 20% of their ranking. Student selectivity is only 12.5%. All these numbers can and are manipulated. UF costs $6,389 for in-state students per year, so of course class size is going to suffer because of that. We can have smaller class sizes and charge students 3x as much like the other schools on the list, but it's a state uni. Rankings don't even take that into consideration.

Shanghai World University ranking FTW. Ranks actual academic performance and output of a university and its faculty.

Tulane at #39 seems interesting

All their grad programs are basically money pits.

It is well known that when a university simply reflects the attitudes of its football fans it is no longer a university in the true meaning of the word. Football has stalled the University of Alabama’s transformation into a modern university with intellectual, aesthetic or humanistic concerns. The reality is that the NCAA would actually do the University of Alabama a favor by handing down the Death Penalty for its football team. Then perhaps finally its faculty, alumni and students might appreciate the scholarship and learning that mark a university with intellectual fiber and integrity.

Until then “roll tide” is the shameful apology for those either naive or without individual self-respect.

the fact that you believe this leads me to come to the conclusion you did not attend a university...

I think LSU has has dropped from 128 to 135 over the last few years? As you already know we have plenty of highly ranked majors. We'd be right there with Alabama and Auburn if the state didn't assfrick our budget

Success in football may hide a schools increased academic value and reputation -- for a bit. But it certainly doesn't hinder it.
