That's when the administration should start to ramp up fundraising. LSU athletics has no issues getting financial support from fans, no reason LSU can't get a decent endowment from alumni or people from Louisiana.

Certainly, when they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves to themselves, they show how foolish they are.

Texas accepts top 7% in Texas, and has maintained a 50k student enrollment for the last 30-40 years

At 60k plus students, why does aTm not limit the top 10% acceptance to 7% or lower?

seems like a no brainer?

its so obvious the dramatic increase in class size is hurting the university, Arizona State and Central Florida are saying hello!

I don't think we have a choice. State Law.

UT Austin gets a waiver because it is limited by 40 acres of space in Austin (so we have been told). A&M College Station has enough space to build and admit more than 200,000 undergrad students if necessary (so we have been told). Eventually, the state is going to have to give A&M College Station a waiver on the 10% rule or exempt the flagships all together.

Something has got to give.

Of course, Baylor is over there jacking off to our unfortunate burden and using their political clout to keep it that way.

These old rivalries run long and a lot deeper than the football field. That's why I am so glad we left. It's very unhealthy to deal with a toxic political environment that spills over onto the field of sports.

We talk a lot of unjustified shite to all the other SEC programs, but it's all in fun and never gets too far beyond good-natured ribbing. It's so much more pleasant.

You clod, the University of Texas campus is NOT 40 acres. That's just the original part.

UT Austin got an exemption from the top 10 percent rule.

Aggy president said that was racist and they are going full steam ahead, 77 percent acceptance rate and 75,000 students.

Here's what the smarmy west coast fig aggy prez has to say:
quote:

A&M has always received fewer automatic admittees, but the number is growing. School officials say they are fine with that.

“If you are really critical of the 10 Percent Rule, what you are saying is that we don’t want the kids from the [less competitive schools],” said A&M President Michael Young.

Fighting the rule, Young said, sends the message to those schools that “we would prefer to have an admissions process that doesn’t require us to admit you.”

“I don’t know that I would leap to join a school that communicated that to me,” Young said. “But I do think you are going to succeed here [at A&M]. The data show that.”

Ha. That article discusses Samuell High School here in Dallas, where I did some volunteer work. I noticed when I was doing it that some of the smartest kids were talking about A&M.

I have to tell you, especially after you read that article, A&M has probably done well for itself in the long run by embracing the 10% rule. It gets its diversity numbers up without having to get sidelined dealing with the affirmative action issues.

People in Texas who bitch about the 10% rule should look to the underlying problem. Making the shitty rural and minority high schools better.

After 27 games:

Dennis Franchione: 13-14 (1 winning season)
Charlie Strong: 13-14 (0 winning seasons)
Mike Sherman: 12-15 (0 winning seasons)

If Strong goes 1-1 vs. Cal and Oklahoma State, he will be tied with BOTH Franchione and Sherman at 14-15 after 29 games.

Projecting further, in order for Charlie Strong not to be tied with BOTH Dennis Franchione and Mike Sherman after 38 games (19-19), he has to go 9-4 or better this season.

I notice I got an aggy downvote (surely more will follow) for showing them that they do NOT want to limit enrollment and want to take everyone who can fog a mirror via the top 10 percent rule, all while taking a shot at the University of Texas.

Face it, aggy, the University of Texas at Austin is a much more exclusive school, academically, than Aggy-College Station.

Don't hold your breath on enrollment caps or seeking an exemption from the top 10 percent rule. Full steam ahead into that iceberg, aggy.

A&M has also been proactively recruiting in predominately minority schools as well. That all started under Gates.

The current BOR was all appointed by Gov Hair who embraced the uncontrolled growth. Many of us out there don't, but it will take time to undo what he did.

The tricky part will be controlling the growth without changing the demographic trends which have been in the right direction.

No, you get downvotes for being a piece of shite who eventually devolves into your own version of Godwin by shitting on people in the armed forces past and present.

Strong has pieces of guys like Franchione and Sherman in his stool.

(Things are looking grim at the dumpster fire in Austin.)

You guys have the burden of the 10% rule and winning WWII. No one cares that USNWR ranks you below UT-Austin, SMU and Baylor.

Lighten up.

Yep. UT Austin (DeLoss Dodds) kept them from getting the death penalty with a personal appeal to the NCAA Infractions Committee, back in the 90s.

UT Austin sponsored their membership into the AAU.

UT Austin proposed a Lone Star television network that would benefit both schools.

UT Austin tried to look out for aggy by making sure they had a spot in the Pac 10 after Missouri and Nebraska decided to wreck the Big 12.

And for all that... aggy keeps shitting in UT Austin's face.

What a bunch of loser clods.
