When he was at UF he crushed the SEC for years. In 97 we upset #1 gators they had a 25 game winning streak in sec games. The game was in tiger st and I was there it was awesome. But that was the ONLY game we won in the 90s against the gators. I really like the OBC wish him the best.

Gamecocks, who do y'all want? Spurrier made y'all relevant and I see good things in the future for you guys.

Weird news day for Gators. I hope everything is ok with him and his family healthwise. Looking forward to seeing him back around Gator football where he belongs.

Top five college coach of all time and was honestly ahead of his time. Going to miss seeing the HBC roam the sidelines.

It's a shame he wasted so many years at South Carolina.

Really? What was wasted about those competitive teams Spurrier fielded?

Why not finish out the season? Seems kind of lame to just leave USC hanging mid-season like this. Not very "legendary".

He's a POS jerk who never hesitated to kick a team while they were down. Now that his team is officially shite, he's bailing mid season. Coward. Piece. Of. Shite.

I hate to agree with this, but it is completely true. I love the guy and his post game pressers, but he can't handle any type of criticism. As soon as it started in Florida he left, as soon as it started in Washington, he left, and now its happening at South Carolina. He likes to be revered and can't take the heat.

He could finish the season while a coaching search is going on, he is just choosing not to.

I kinda feel bad for the South Carolina Players.

Truest words ever spoken. Very weak move by Spurrier.

I wonder if it's a health issue because Spurrier quitting during the season is disappointing.

This makes me think that there must be something medical involved.

Much respect for the HBC. Love him or hate him, he helped make the SEC what it is today. He will be missed.

None better than calling Florida State "Free Shoes University"as a result of football players receiving free athletic shoes in violation of rules.
