Mauk having a really good day so far

@todpalmer: Mauk goes 4/5 for 32 yards on 8-play, 60-yard TD drive. It's the offense's first score of the scrimmage. Mauk 9/14 for 68 yds, TD, 0 INT.

Also had a couple of 10+ yard runs.

TBJ is getting some work with the 1D

Lol...and then there is Lock

@todpalmer: Working with 2O vs 1D, Lock converts 3rd/9 with a 49-yd bomb to Justin Smith and one play later steps up in pocket, rifles 10-yd TD to Wingo

Zanders is also having a good day

Harris is dominating today

@MizzouFootball: #MIZCamp Scrimmage #2: SACK! Charles Harris has lived in the backfield today as he records another sack for #DLineZou

@DavidCMorrison: MU's defense has racked up 9 sacks today in a shorter scrimmage than Saturday. They had 6 then.

@DavidCMorrison: Drew Lock escapes left, feels pressure, slings it sidearm to some dude (#19?!?) for a 22-yard gain in traffic to set up a 2-yard Doherty TD.

@DavidCMorrison: Drew Lock: 10 of 13, 100 yards.

@rockmnation: YOU'RE REALLY NOT DOING A GOOD JOB OF CALMING US DOWN, DREW LOCK.

Lol, no kidding...

@DavidCMorrison: Maty Mauk: 15 of 22, 132 yards.

Just led a TD drive in the 2 minute drill that included a 38 yard strike to Blair.

Perhaps we're seeing Mauk get pushed.

I think it's good for him.

WR are dropping like flies

@DavidCMorrison: Per Gary Pinkel, Hickman grad Wesley Leftwich strained his knee in today's scrimmage.

Leftwich will be ok.
A qb needs to average about 10 yards a pass in my eyes and Mauk needs to work on that in my eyes. His passing motion reminds me of a basketball players shooting a jumper with all wrist line drive style.

Are you talking yards per attempt or completion, because 10 yards per attempt would be historically great.

I'm more concerned with his completion percentage. Have to make the easy pitch and catch to keep drives alive. He throws a good deep ball.

Anyway, pretty good article on Newsome here... As has been the case all offseason, they've hinted about new packages within the defense and he was reported to be standing up as a rush end in sets today.

This training camp has the feel of a spring training when guys like Carlos Martinez or Piscotty or Grichuk tear it up, but everyone knows they'll be sent back to the minors for more work --- which really means to slow their clock arbitration clock and save money.

In this case it's not to save money by slowing the arbitration clock, it's to preserve integrity of the program. Drew Lock's the best qb, but to give him the job would result in anarchy among the qb's and it would disrupt the entire program.

Are you fan of the concept that it's your job until you fail (usually multiple times)?

I prefer a more intuitive approach.

See what's coming before it comes.

True freshman make huge impacts in college football if they're talented enough and set free to play.

Lock is like Piscotty. Innately mature. Sound. Collected. Born ready.

He's the best.

He's here for 3 years.

He plays for 1 if Mauk isn't unseated.

It has to happen sometime. Why not sooner than later.

Well, the problem here would be proclaiming him the best after two scrimmages. He may very well be, but it's hard to say until you face real defense that is trying to bury your face mask in the turf.

Again though, there is more at play here as you mentioned. So IF you make a move like this is has to be blatantly obvious and it has to be a wide margin.

Also, I'm not ready to proclaim he'll be ready for the NFL or even want to leave after his RS SO year and only me year of starting if that is how it plays out. That's pretty rare, and remember this is a "true son" with deep Mizzou roots who really wants to be here.

Mauk had a really good day today. 68% completions and made several plays with his feet. That continuing is best for this team and the program.

The scrimmages have little do to with it.

They just reinforce what intuition tells when you look at Mauk and Lock in the face.

I agree. Two more years of Mauk, two years of Lock, he'll go to the draft like Gabbert did, after his 2nd year starting, which is very typical.

I expect Zanders to transfer next offseason.

I'm don't think we can be sure the offensive line is a sure thing until they show us they are after a few games. I don't know if it would be wise to rush our future at QB out to SEC defenses without a trustworthy line in front of him.

Plus, if Mauk can calm down and start completing most of the high percentage passes this offense uses, he will be the QB we want on the field. Looks like he did the second scrimmage. We'll see if he can continue that.

What the hell!? Another shoulder strain!! LB Donavin Newsome Day-to-Day.

Fighters always say if they don't go into a fight a little banged up then they didn't train hard enough.

matter says in PD article Baggett and coffman were both out with a groin injury. I thought baggett had back problems. Anybody know which it is?

Kickers aren't supposed to be injured.
