K.
You said Mauk starts the next 2 years, then it's Lock for 3..

Red shirt counts toward eligibilty for the draft.
Yeah. I just said that.
I said Pinkel will start mauk the next 2 and will hope Lock for 3. It won't happen. that was my point. I mentioned the red shirt in the first post as well. look for the mention about Manziel.

Something tells me you purposely botched the quote situation to cover up your mess.
Anyway..
You said Mauk starts for 2, then it's Drew's team for 3.
There was no 'hope' in there.
You're weird. Adios.

My point is this. I'm not sure Lock would be better than Mauk now. He's certainly having a great camp, and he may be but if you startLock you better be damn sure. It would likely lead to 3 transfers from the QB slot.
Mauk has his worts and they don't seem to be improving, but he's won a lot of games for Pinkel and I don't blame him for taking that into account. So it would take a wide margin to make the switch and rightfully so.
I hope Mauk comes out and has a great scrimmage tomorrow and then we won't have to worry about it.

Let's be real and admit that Mauk is really a playground or sandlock qb!

You guys were all saying the same thing. Yes, I'm sure GP would want Lock for 2 years. But no, he won't get him for 2 years unless he benches Mauk, which I don't see happening as a senior who had already started for 2 years.
I think the point that was being made is that because Lock can leave after 3 years, it's a complete waste to redshirt him. Even if it means he's only playing a series every other weekend, he is getting some field time and practice snaps. With this I agree. Doesn't mean start him, but why redshirt him?

Me too. But he won't. He may have a spectacular play but I'm convinced that what you see is what you get with Mauk. His absolute refusal to listen to those with knowledge of the position tells me nothing will change. Had he or his family humbled themselves enough to train/work with one of these QB gurus all offseason to improve his footwork and mechanics, I'd say there's a chance his 50% completion rate would improve.

Just looking at the WR raw numbers, my prediction is that Reese passes up Culkin before the year is over. Don't know if they were bad passes or drops, but Culkin with 2 catches on 5 targets.
I'll keep saying it even though I know it won't happen and it shouldn't happen if he doesn't want it to, but man I'd love to see Zanders at WR now more than ever with the injuries.

you ain't kiddin'. At what point does Zanders realize he'd never going to start at QB? He's a fantastic athlete but with the debate about whether Lock should pass Mauk leaves Zanders at the number 4 behind Printz(who also didn't have a bad scrimmage) or no. 5 behind Berkstresser.

Mauk's situation will take care of itself.
Which means we'll have to endure some loss's the he causes.
Whether that's this year, or sometime early next year -- Lock or somebody else will be the starter within the coming 2 year window.

Leading qb's in production at the recent scrimmage was probably a big hint he should switch to WR.
If he's not going to start here, he'll play qb somewhere else.

Agree.
Culkin is a putz.
Coordination is a problem. Legs and arms and mind aren't on the same page.

Is Chase Abbington practicing with the team?
Posted on 8/19/15 at 10:19 pm to MizzouBS
He had some numbers in the scrimmage. If he didn't practice this week, that's news to me. Didn't do too much in the scrimmage as I recall though. Doherty seems to have impressed more from what I recall reading.

The thing about Culkin is that he will make an incredibly difficult catch and then turn around a drop a gimme.
Wouldn't surprise me to see Reese pass him up. Although, it seems like Culkin is a pretty strong blocker.

Lock had a better completion percentage in the scrimmage. 74% to Zanders 66%. Zanders had the better QB rating thanks to a 64 yard pass to Johnson.
If you think Zanders is a better throwing QB than Lock, I would like you to go back and edit all of the posts where you said Lock should be our starter. If not, I guess you're just trolling bullshite.
My point is Zanders will not be our starting QB but he's very quick and like Reedus said, we can use him at WR.

I simply don't get guys like that honestly.
Option A: Never play another game in your life but live in peace knowing you practiced at the position of your choice.
Option B: Switch positions and not just get a chance to play immediately but actually even give yourself the possibility of playing even after college.
God bless him for sticking to his guns but Option A gives him a ceiling of slaving away for a decent living. Option B gives him those results as a floor and possibly retiring at age 30 as a ceiling. Kills me to see him wasting an opportunity, even if from strictly a financial sense.
