It is evolving, there's a reason they don't do two a days anymore. Football is too physical of a sport to ever see the end of injuries, especially sprains and mild ligament/muscle damage.

Some years you're luckier than others. Guys get hurt playing baseball for fricks sake.

Johnson- severe sprain. Out indefinitely. At least it wasn't broken. Still probably leads to a RS for him.

Was it a high ankle sprain? Those plagued us last year. Josh Smith got one during the OU game (Okie lineman fell on him) and had to red shirt. He even had to have surgery and though he had surgery early last year, he still isn't quite 100 percent yet. VP got one about the same time and made it back midseason. The trouble with high ankle sprains is that they can mean anything.

Hope your guy has a better outlook than Smith did.

Mizzou Football Adds CB Anthony Hines to 2015 Roster

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Football has announced that sophomore cornerback Anthony Hines (South San Francisco, Calif.) has joined the program for the upcoming 2015 season. Hines, a standout corner at College of San Mateo in 2014, will be eligible to play at Mizzou immediately. He is coming off of a freshman season in which he totaled 22.5 tackles, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries. He will have four years to complete three years of remaining eligibility.

A 6-1, 190-pound speedster with great range, Hines helped San Mateo to a 9-2 record in 2014 and was part of a defense that allowed just 15.9 points per game a season ago. The San Mateo defense held its opponents to fewer than 10 points four times last season. His three interceptions tied for the team-lead and he returned one of the interceptions for a touchdown.

Hines was a ballhawk at San Mateo last season, totaling eight pass breakups and 11 passes defensed to go along with his three picks. The eight pass breakups and 11 passes defensed were team-highs by a wide margin. He also showed great versatility, picking up 3.0 tackles for loss and a pair of blocked kicks.

Hines is currently rehabbing an injured left foot which he hurt while training in May but is expected to begin workouts with Mizzou in approximately 2-3 weeks. He will wear No. 1 at Mizzou.

Hines was a 3-star prospect according to 247Sports.com and Rivals coming out of El Camino High School in South San Francisco. He also competed in basketball and track & field while at El Camino.

Let the QB controversy begin. The play(s) of the day for today apparently were an INT by Brothers on a ball thrown by Mauk and Lock hitting Smith deep.

Did we ever get a new depth chart after the scrimmage?

Is Lock getting as many reps with the 1st team D as Mauk is? That could be a factor.

If there were 5 parallel universes, all 5 qb's playing the same season, Lock would do the best.

He's the best. The coaches know he's the best.

But he's not going to play.

But then they will tell us they put the best available options on the field to win games.

PM said they were told they aren't allowed to post the stretching line depth chart anymore. The official one won't come out until the week of the first game. Idk why, but we're being pretty secretive about that this year.

I think if he were clearly, and overwhelmingly the best they would play him.

Anything other than that and there are way too many issues with flipping your depth chart like that.

During 7-on-7 drills, RB Morgan Steward ran a nifty cut back route to shed a linebacker and catch a pass across the middle from QB Eddie Printz.
S Anthony Sherrils made a great read on a deep crossing pattern and stepped in front of the pass for an interception.
QB Drew Lock lofted a pass in between the corner and the safety to WR Keyon Dilosa, who skied for the ball and came down with it for a 20-yard gain.
OL Connor McGovern and DL Charles Harris continue to have epic battles during 1-on-1 trench drills. After McGovern walled up Harris, Harris returned the favor on the next snap with a sweet spin move around McGovern before sacking the dummy QB.
On the first play of the 11-on-11 session, DL Terry Beckner, Jr. penetrated the backfield and stuffed the ballcarrier for a tackle-for-loss.
During 11-on-11, QB Maty Mauk shifted in the pocket and surveyed his options before tossing a neat shovel pass to a wide-open RB Ish Witter, who scampered for a 12-yard gain.
Mauk rifled a throw into a tight space, connecting with a streaking Nate Brown in traffic for 17 yards.
LB Joey Burkett flashed incredible reaction skills, hauling in a tipped pass near the turf and returning it 15 yards.
A few plays later, CB Aarion Penton elevated for an interception near the sideline, stayed in bounds and sprinted to the end zone for a pick-six.
On a third and goal from the 5-yard line, WR Wesley Leftwich dived for a tipped ball and squeezed it for a touchdown.
RB Marquise Doherty caught a delayed screen pass at the 9-yard line and shifted his way to the end zone for a score.
Freshman DE Nate Howard burst into the backfield and forced a sack fumble on the final drive.

I'm sure Pinkel wants to redshirt him and let Mauk start the next 2 years. Then it will be Drew's team for the next 3 years. Problem is, as happened with manzel, They can declare after 3 years, redshirt or not. NOt certain he can go early but he certainly has the size. We know Mauk is too short and probably won't be drafted at all.

That means we could lose Lock after just 1 season. what a waste if he is that good.

Head to head, I'd put money on Lock being considerably better than Mauk right now.

But a lot of other factors in play, all kinds of different angles. Zanders and Printz and the integrity of how things are done is huge too.

IMO the only way Mauk does not start this year, or gets replaced at all, would be if Printz is the one that consistently shows him up all fall.

Printz has been pretty consistent, made good decisions, and constantly runs against the number 1 defense. But has he done enough to unseat Mauk? I actually think he is much closer than people tend to give him credit for.

I don't think it has anything to do with Lock. I just think that Pinkel doesn't believe in throwing any QB out there as a true freshman. Certainly not when he has several other good options that can win games. Both Mauk and Printz are good options that know the playbook and have experience at the college level.

There is negative 1,000% chance Lock is here for 5 years.

It's more likely he's here for 3 years, including the RS, which means he plays for 2 (if Mauk gets unseated next year, as he should).

I completely agree he won't be here for 5. I think Pinkel is hoping for at least 2 but may only get 1. Red shirt counts toward eligibilty for the draft. That's why I think if he's the best qb it is a waste not to honestly let him play because it's the way we always do it.

K.

You said Mauk starts the next 2 years, then it's Lock for 3..
