So I just talked to a guy who played at Southern Miss and he said there's s way they get around it so they get full scholarships. No wonder they recruit so well.
This is true. Vandy recruits kids who are top students. Those students get academic rides even if they are drafted out of HS kids. The ones not as strong academically get full rides from the 11.7 scholarships

lol every college should have academics.
Let me clarify, as you are either a slow coach or trolling hard
Vanderbilt's Peabody School of Education was ranked first among schools of education in the 2009 edition of the U.S. News & World Report.

ok, but that is based on selectivity out of high school, and small private schools by nature take less students. Vandy has a nice campus, which is why you posted the pic, which is a big reason a lot of kids want to go there, which boosts their selectivity. Being in Nashville doesn't hurt either
lot of bright kids in high school just do the bare minimum to get by, but once they go to college and can focus on what they are interestd in, their grades shoot up.

No I posted the pic because it was originally Peabody College and named for this fellow from Georgia

that beard was looking a little nappy, lol
looks like a bird nest
One picture of a prestigious college building deserves another:

I heard Vand's coach on Sirius one morning and he admitted that there were advantages Vandy baseball had and if they didn't they would be "dead in the water" was his words.
The Florida's LSU's , Arkie's who say they are playing 11.7 scholarships is laughable at best. THe lotto pays for most of their baseball players. The 11.7 is used for TOP players, out of state players and filling in gaps such as housing, books, etc. This is a HUUUUUGE advantage. Huge.
Bama, Auburn, OM can build all the nice stadiums they want but until they get the same PLAYERS that other schools have they have no chance. none. Is it a coincidence that South Car. gets a lotto and they win 2 national titles? Look at Arkies program now. When MSU was dominating baseball in the 80's there wasn't the lotto schollie issue to deal with. Now they might have a decent team every 7,8 years.
College baseball is growing in popularity and that is good. Some teams are gonna rue the day because it is causing people in non-lotto states to research why they can't win. We know why now. As it becomes more popular residents will do what is needed to get players besides a little above walk-on type talent. We kick Vandy's arse in football and will always do so. When we are competing evenly in baseball, with the high school talent Bama has, we will be a force in baseball. We will have facilities, players and not some asst coach from Northwestern St taking the job because he doesnt have one. We can go get a Paul Manieri type to come coach us because he will have the same playing field as others. Its coming. The talk has started in Bama about some sort of lotto, off-season work program etc, to get baseball players full rides to Bama and Auburn. Enjoy beating Bama now because it ain't gonna last much longer.

Kinda the same advantage Bama has buying recruits because their budget is 3x's that of everyone else.

I like Vandy to win it all and it ain't because of the scholarship rules. I just think they are the most complete team and they know how to win in Ameritrade.

i think people saying Vanderbilt is a better school than others is not supported by anything. It is just marketing.
Any case for Vanderbilt be a better school will rest on selectivity. But any small school will be more selective by nature as small schools take less students. Selectivity and quality of the professors are not the same thing.
You are in serious denial. You can keep telling yourself that Clemson is academically on par with Harvard but that doesn't make it so.
Posted on 6/13/15 at 3:23 pm to REG861
it has better engineering and architecture program than Harvard. i'll give harvard sociology and liberal arts majors
Posted on 6/13/15 at 3:25 pm to Roses of Crimson
LSU was kicking butt in baseball long before any Lottery existed, and we'd have a hell of a baseball program even if we didn't have Tops for one simple reason: we love baseball at LSU.

You have the biggest inferiority complex I have ever seen in my life. Clemson is a perfectly nice school. Vanderbilt is a perfectly nice school that happens to outrank Clemson based on just about any criteria you can think up. Stuff happens. I don't sit around all day trying to convince myself that Vandy is better academically than Harvard. As far as saying we shouldn't be in the SEC, we're in the middle of building a baseball dynasty and our basketball team will be near the top of the conference this year. Meatloaf once told me that two out of three ain't bad. Besides, the conference needs us to anchor bowling and women's tennis.
Some of the SEC love in this thread got me all like . [putting this period after the smiley so Mr. Clemson doesn't call me out]

Are you really comparing Clemson to Harvard and Vandy?
Posted on 6/13/15 at 4:35 pm to Sykology
did you go to either school? How can you objectively compare two schools unless you went to both.
I do not believe Vanderbilt has more weight with employers of engineers than Clemson does. I didn't even know it had an engineering program.

no, others brought it up.
i think it is better than harvard and vandy in engineering and architecture. don't really care about the rest. business isn't exactly rocket science, neither are liberal arts.
i know Clemson is a more fun place to go to school than both of those.

Yes, I attend Vanderbilt right now. No, I didn't also attend Clemson, because I'm not from SC and the probability of a random high school student from Illinois choosing Clemson is pretty small. Now, I will admit that our engineering program isn't our greatest strength. I was almost ready to concede the point that Clemson might be better but I thought, hell, I'll look it up.
So, I went to the authority on the matter in USNWR, who, whether we like it or not, has a huge impact on schools because they are so widely known. According to their graduate school engineering rankings, Harvard is 20th, Vanderbilt is 35th, and almighty Clemson is 71st. I honestly didn't look at architecture. I'm not even sure if we have an architecture program, and by most accounts it's a horrible field to go into right now.
I'll leave our discussion where it now stands. This is a board for discussing sports, and it's obvious that you have a strong personal bias that makes you incapable of rationality. I know Clemson didn't make the CWS, but it's still worth a watch.
EDIT: Since you're now down to the point of saying how much more fun Clemson is...you should note that Vanderbilt ranks on many top party school lists, usually as the only representative of the USNWR top 20. Oh, it's also in the SEC. Go spam this shite in the ACCRant.

ok, well i have literally never head anything about Vanderbilt's engineering program.
I know Auburn, Va Tech, NC State have a good rep. It seems like I would have heard about Vanderbilt too. Again, i didn't even know they had an engineering program and I am an engineer. They hvae a small alumni base so i don't see how that helps when getting a job. I don't think anybody but Vandy people think they are superior to other schools.
US News and report isn't hiring engineers. they are not engineers. they don't teach at engineering schools.
the principles of engineering don't change if you go to vandy vs Clemson. if you look at the curriculum for each they are the same exact programs. both schools will have some good and bad professors.
