Just how good is Hugh Freeze, really?

A while back I started a similar thread on Les Miles (link here ), it went 20 pages and I feel it really drummed up some good dialogue. I decided to add another installment, this time for ol' Bucky Mcgee over at ole miss. Perhaps this can become a regular series, who knows.
Ole miss fans will point out how wonderful freeze is. He's "righted the ship", recruiting is great, they are on the rise!!! But, as the title implies, just how good is he really? Let's take a look.
2012: 7-6 with losses to texas (35 points!), bama, a&m, uga, VANDERBILT, and LSu. won the compass bowl in birmingham.
notable wins: arkansas?
2013: 8-5 with losses to bama, Auburn, a&m, mizzou, and state. beat ga tech in music city.
notable wins: LSU
2014: 9-4 with losses to lsu, Auburn, and arkansas. Got drubbed by TCU in peach bowl.
notable wins: alabama, msu
So what do we have here? Well, on a positive note we see improvement year to year. Improvement is a good thing. However, based on ole miss fans you'd think he went from 7-6 to 13-1 overnight. Fact is that even in his very BEST season, he still had 4 losses included getting laughed out of the building in teh bowl game. He has yet to post a season with less than 4 losses. Has yet to finish higher than 3rd in his division. Every year includes a head scratchingly bad loss (texas and vandy in 12, missouri in 13 [mizz won the east, but they lost at home in a game not really that close], arkansas and tcu in 14). 3-6 against the big 3 in the west.
Overall I would give hugh a 6.5/10 with potential to rise steadily based on 2015.

We won't know until he coaches at a legit program.

All valid points. One of the better offseason analysis threads I've seen so far

thank you, I try to be as objective as possible in my analysis. I have no qualms moving him up the 10 point scale based on solid performance in the future.

I want some of what you're having
I was at that game, and Johnelle nearly beat Hugh. That's a red flag right there.

I guess you could say pitt. I forgot that yall had JLS in '12, yeah take that off of notable wins. Auburn in name is one....but our record would suggest otherwise.

I think he's a very solid recruiter, and a decent coach. The end of the LSU game was mind boggling to me, but that was also on Bo. I think it says a lot about Freeze that he's able to bring so much talent to Oxford and it's really hard to evaulate last season properly since Treadwell's injury cost them so much.
Him getting Patterson is very big because he hasn't had a solid QB yet, and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them compete in the West year in and year out for the next 5-10 years.

He's done pretty well considering he's had this guy for a QB
No telling what he'll do with Shea Patterson

I'd say he's doing alright. Not overwhelming, but can't argue with steady progress.
Hell, he's on pace to exceed a perfect season in a few years.

Every team we lost to in 2012 finished with 8+ wins, so go frick yourself. Consider the fact that Hugh Freeze was working with, I don't know 54 scholarship players that season?
We lost to Mizzou 24-10 in 2013, so I wouldn't say that was "head scratchingly bad." Scratchingly is not a word, dipshit.

Yeah I gave credit for progress, that's a big positive for him.
They just never seem like they're realy a threat for much. This season absolutely looked different and they looked like a possible playoff team early. Then it kinda fell apart for them. Losing 3 times in their last 6 games, including 2 complete drubbings (1 to arkansas!) undid the early season IMO.

that missouri team was average as grits and had to rely on Florida and uga (not to mention tennessee) being all down just to win. You played in oxford and lost by 2 touchdowns. That's a bad loss.

In November, we were a shell of our team that was assraping fools across the Southeast due to injuries.

That Mizzou team went 12-2 and finished #5 in the nation. Very average.

It's about fricking time I get rustled. It's been a while.

and?
They still count. I acknowledged OM was one of the best teams in the COUNTRY early on. Then you collapsed. Injury, illness, death..whatever....it still happened and it counts.
