My dad played ball for coach Royall in Austin. We attended a LOT of games and went to the locker room after most of them. We helped Royall recruit a few guys whose names you would recognize. Huge fan.
When I was ready to chose a school, the economy was down ... WAY down. TAMU gave me a ton of scholarships (technically more than a full ride). Texas did not offer as much. Easy choice.

Grew Up an LSU fan. had some phases where i didn't really care.
As long as i likes sports i liked LSU sports. So there is that.
Didn't apply anywhere else for college, although there are some financial components to that as well.

I have family from Texas who convinced me to be a Texas A&M fan when I was a kid.

Grew up an Auburn fan. Went to Bama. Sidewalkers block my access to the Bama Board.

Have to give the girl credit, she is true to herself.
A school choice is all business, football is life and death.
The only fans I see switching allegiances are fans who were only tepid fans to begin with.
I had a great friend, whose dead now, who hated football, but he pulled for Auburn in the 70's in hopes that he could rag all his friends if Bama lost, ( 9 straight ) but the dude didn't care shyt about sports.
But when Dye came in and stared cheating, and Auburn started winning, this guy became a fanatical fan of Auburn football and that is the ONLY SPORTS he ever watched.
