I grew up rooting for Florida teams in general.(The big 3) My mom was always a Tiger so whenever I could catch a game i rooted for them. We have Alabama fans in our family and I'd watch Bama games with them as well. I always loved Louisiana and LSU, when I came here it just made sense. I used to play NCAA football on Ps2 and always played as LSU since I never saw them on TV besides the UF game/occasionally a Bama/AU game.

I've never met an Auburn fan who grew up bama.

Several guys I went to HS with (early 70s) went to Auburn and converted. I also knew several guys at AU that remained bammer fans for whatever reason.

I think you see more of this now that the academic offering of AU and UA overlap more than they used to.

Grew up a Kentucky fan. My mom and her parents all attended UK. We lived in Louisville until I was 12. I went to a bunch of basketball camps in Lexington. It was the only sport I really paid attention to until middle school.

I don't really keep my Kentucky fan hood much of secret on here.

Alabama was recruiting one of my basketball teammates, so we came down for a tournament at UA in between my Freshmen and Sophomore year. I fell in love with the campus and will be graduating in the fall.

Alabama comes first no matter what and sadly I don't really have to worry about an Alabama/Kentucky basketball game turning into some marquee matchup.

The incessant claims of being a bandwagoner does get old.

I have never understood how one can attend/graduate from a school and pull for another. I just don't get it.

Prof I have a similar view here as well. Parents went to EKU and I went to UK. My family is from the Corbin KY area and the extended family was from down around Oak Ridge. I have cousins at UK and UT so its more of a playful rivalry I'd say.

That's pretty close to a mirror image. One of the reasons I've always loved the UT-UK rivalry is because it's fun fighting with family. The years the game was played on thanksgiving were the best because everybody would be together. I miss the Keg and the rivalry being a two sport thing. I mean I understand why they cancelled the Keg the year the tragedy happened but I think it would be nice if we could bring it back, especially if they ever went back to handing it off to whoever is wins in each sport.

I passed a guy earlier on campus earlier decked out in Auburn gear.

Just wanted to add that I visited my SO/PSU back in '08 and the campus is beautiful in the fall. Also had some pretty good Italian at some place about 10 mins from campus by car. I think it was on Atherton. I was really spoiled by all the delivery food options and places to eat near campus (something I felt LSU lacked).

Good luck! I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

The main reason I wish y'all had never had to get rid of Bruce was because I think instead of the SEC making UK-UF be the annual basketball rivalry, I'm almost 100% positive it would have been UK-UT.

When I was in school as a freshman/sophomore(08/09), A&M's architecture program got ranked number one by some ranking. I remember seeing kids wearing shirts everywhere.

Wasn't even aware A&M had an Architecture program, frankly. I know UT Austin is consistently in the top programs in the nation along with Auburn. UT Austin is probably better than both honestly.

Honestly, it really comes down how much of a fan you were of one team growing up. If you really cared growing up, it's hard to switch. And let's be real, it's just a sports team. I went to UT and go back to games all the time, but I go back to see my friends from college, not really caring all that much about the game going on. For LSU, I have been an absolute fanatic since I was 4 or 5 years old. I went to more LSU games in my childhood than fans from a lot of schools ever will. When you're that invested in your team, it's not that easy to just stop caring. Honestly, my friends in high school said that if I switched to being a UT fan, they'd have been shocked. It is what it is. I support my university and donate every year to the academic side. I just root for a different team in sports.

Yeah we had the old days back when Bruce was coaching both fan bases hopping mad at each other too during basketball season. I'm hoping Tyndall will be able to do something - he has a lot of Bruce like attributes but only time will tell if he can fire things up again.

shite UT/UF was also HUGE when I was at UT, almost as big as UT/UK. Bruce Pearl was just good for the SEC in general. The excitement he brought was incredible to see from where it was my first couple of years with Buzz Peterson. You could walk up to the game 30 minutes late and stroll down to the first few rows. Once Bruce got going, kids were camping out the night before to just get in to the big games and hours before the others.

The only reason I preferred the UK/UT to UK/UF or UT/UF is the fact that Billy Donavon is pretty dull. Calipari and Bruce are the exact opposites, which made it so much going back to when Cal was at Memphis.

I think that Memphis/UT game when they were #1 & #2 is still one of the highest rated regular season CBB games.

oh the Memphis rivalry was great. not only was that particular game awesome to watch because of the game itself but because frick memphis tiger basketball. loved seeing them lose as the #1 team at the forum, where they don't deserve and shouldn't get to play.

I was in El Paso, Texas watching that game in the bar of the Holiday Inn...I can tell you that I was pretty much the only person in the place that gave a rats-arse about it. But then...I was watching it with my buddies Jack (Daniels) and Jim (Beam). So I didn't really care.

That's what sold me. My dream school was UNC and I LOVED UNC's campus but was too dumb to get in. PSU's campus is as pretty as they come and one thing you grow to appreciate is despite the school's size it's all in one are and easily accessed. Something I missed after coming home to UGA.

Their delivery is friggin top notch. Was insanely clutch. Athens, IMO, had better food options but they didn't have delivery outside of 2 chinese places and Jimmy Johns
