As an Alabama fan, I'm embarrassed...

This could go on the Bama board, but I'll post it here to gather opinions of others.
How can other Alabama fans defend this? We have a coach making $7 million a year and he can't figure out how to stop his biggest rival? He can't change his style or adapt?
I understand safety, I get it, but even as an Alabama fan I have to say it's a bullshite out and excuse to try and slow down that which you can't stop on your own.
ETA: certainly I'm not the only Alabama fan to feel this way.

You will be falling up a flight of stairs soon.

All this coming right on the heels of him hiring Lane frickin' Kiffin.
The 'Bama fans I know see it for what it is - a strange desperation from a coach they didn't think would act like this - and has no real need to.
Kind of bizarre behavior, imvho.

REC just collected your IP address.
The Saban report: you are on it.

I think the proposed rule is retarded, but I'm far from embarrassed. Aside from his W/L record, I really don't care too much what Saban does.

Finally! A bama fan coming clean

As I said in the other thread...
I'll reserve my judgment until Saban actually speaks on the manner, other than in passing hypotheticals. Unlike Bert, he hasn't run his mouth on the subject.
And besides, even if he had, I think his accomplishments and standing in the coaching community are enough to overlook any of this stuff.

It is with complete and utter delusion to try and defend this. It is clearly an incredibly weak move to try and eliminate weaknesses. My team doesn't even run much of the HUNH. I can't imagine how outraged I would be if we did.

And I think this may be a large part of the problem. Saban believes this to be the case as well.
Hubris.

IS this some kind of coaching mid life crisis?
Saban was well on his way to another BCS title game, then makes a ppor coaching decision that costs him an IB win, gets blown out in the Sugar Bowl, makes a very head-scratching offensive hire, and finally back-doors other coaches with a rule change agenda.
Had he just taken a knee...

You would love for Alabama fans to be irate. I get it. You want some notion of a kink in the armor. Regardless, until he actually answers direct questions on the matter, all of this is speculation.

He's always had the same opinion about HUNH offenses and has mentioned it in numerous press conferences. He can't make a rule change happen single-handedly and all he did is give his opinion to the rules committee. It probably won't pass and Alabama will keep on winning anyway.
If people want to be mad they should be mad that the other side of the issue may not have been invited to talk to the rules committee. They shouldn't be mad at Saban for accepting an invitation and giving his opinion on the issue. They could have just watched his past press conferences where he discussed the issue and gotten the same information.
ETA: I should also add that he hasn't even made a statement about this publicly so he's not really "pushing" for anything.

We pay him to win games. That's what he's done. Molesting boys may be a little over the line, but trying to change a little rule here or there isn't going to affect me.

Auburn scored 28 points on offense against Bama. Yes we struggled against the run on a couple of drives, but we held them under their average and out gained them. That game was lost on our inability to make key plays on offense when we needed them.
