Saban has recruited a certain way (which he does extremely well) and has implemented a philosophy which does not adjust very well to HUNH (just my opinion). I'm speculating here: he's getting pressured by certain people and the 7+ mil salary, albeit great for him financially, is becoming quite a burden to live up to now. He might feel he's walking a razor's edge now.

As someone else sort of said, this new rule proposal plus hiring LANE KIFFIN... a man that leaves chaos and destruction where ever he goes, really seems like gasps of desperation.

It doesn't help matters when you look at newcomer aTm recruiting extremely well since joining the SEC.

Not trolling. Trying to understand how and why so many of our fans can defend a coward like mentality. We report and change rules to adapt. That's weak, and it's sad that we have fans who would rather defend it instead of moving past it, adapting, and coming up with a better way to stop an offense that shredded us.

Had Alabama beaten Auburn, none of this would matter. Sorry, it's true.

Which is fair, but I think the style of play should be up to the coach and not mandated by a rule.

this rule would do better to bring the defense and offensive back into more balance after all the targeting rules and such.
It might.

I think it would make the game better all around.
I disagree. Even ignoring the HUNH aspect, it would limit a teams ability to make comebacks and make the games less exciting.

Of course, these are just our opinions and a fair debate to have now that we have stepped away from the player safety bs.

He's stopped the HUNH plenty of times before, so I don't get where people get the idea that he can't.

Because he spoke at a rules committee meeting on the subject of changing rules to stop it.

He demolished OM last year and help AU under thier average so its not like he can't get it done.

My mistake. Still doesn't change my opinion that it's not a big deal. Honestly I care so little about this issue I hadn't really read up on it until you corrected me. I don't care because Saban has no vote and can't decide on a rule change. It's not his rule and he didn't propose it.

except he is

No he's not. He went and spoke to the rules committee. Pushing for it would be holding multiple press conferences demanding change. Maybe our definition of "pushing" is just different.

I don't get the big deal. He advocates for his opinion just like every other coach. Oh, he asked to speak at a meeting? Who the frick cares? It's not like he is the sole power in determining whether the rule passes. It likely will not.
As it has been amply demonstrated, the rule doesn't really slow down the offense for how it's typically played out. All it does is takes away the threat of the quick snap. Really don't get why people on both sides are going full retard about it.

I think the issue most reasonable people have is that it appears that there was a concerted effort to keep it quiet and not allow full debate between differing views on the issue.

It may be that it wasn't planned that way, but it certainly appears that it was.

What is great about cfb today is that you can have different offenses being run bec different ppl like those different offenses.

You liked 9-6 Bama/LSU. I thought Bama/A&M this year was a better game.

I don't view it as a coward mentality. I really believe Saban feels like this is a safety issue. He's always said so even before this season. This doesn't represent a change in opinion for Saban so I don't view this as reactionary or cowardly.

Saban has always had the same opinion on this matter so I think you're wrong here.

If what you meant by this is that if Bama had beaten Auburn people wouldn't claim he "can't stop HUNH offenses" so this wouldn't be the issue they troll on about then yes I agree with your statement.

How so? He's been saying the same damn thing for how long? He has an opinion. He has an agenda. Just like everyone else does. Big deal.

I don't remember hearing near the outrage on the real "Nick Saban rule" about recruiting that was made because of lazy coaches.

On the flip side, this is a very BB and Arkansas thing to do.
