not give a shite about what some jealous, wannabe school's fans say. My reply to them would be, "we'll be seeing you come this Fall, and then we'll see who the better man is.

It absolutely would be a big deal to you if a rival coach sneaked his way into a meeting and tried to persuade a committee to pass a rule that limited your team's ability to play they way they want to. Bammers would be livid. So don't act like he did the right thing. What he did was distasteful and wrong.
Again I'm interested to hear how Saban ensured that the committee did not invite someone from the other side. Did he hold a gun to the chairperson's head? Threaten their family? Bribe them with lots of cash?
Or is the anger misdirected? Saban doesn't run the committee. It was the chairperson's job to run the meeting. They could've just as easily invited a HUNH coach. They didn't. Saban wanted to speak on something. What was he supposed to do? Call up Gus and let him know? That is not his job. He is just another coach with an opinion he wanted to express.
If the shoe was on the other foot, I would be more angry at the committee chairperson for not arranging to have both sides speak than I would the coach who has an opinion.

He doesn't have much more to live for. I'm guessing it is emoticons and football games is all he has.

Now if a person gets his jimmies rustled when his manhood comes into question, then maybe he should step back and take a good inventory of that which makes him a "man". As an "Alabama man", I'm secure enough with what my "inventory" is comprised of, to not give a shite about what some jealous, wannabe school's fans say. My reply to them would be, "we'll be seeing you come this Fall, and then we'll see who the better man is. And yet, you wrote all that. Seriously though...you define your manhood based on how well Bama plays on the field?
2) I see symbolism isn't your strong suit.

Why don't you answer my question? What was Saban supposed to do? He has an opinion and has every right to express it. It is not his fault both sides were not represented. All of the vitriol is misplaced.

No he's not. He went and spoke to the rules committee. Pushing for it would be holding multiple press conferences demanding change.
So Asking for the rule to be created and asking to speak to the rules committee to convince them to create the rule is not "pushing for it"?

Maybe our definition of "pushing" is just different.
appears so

This could go on the Bama board, but I'll post it here to gather opinions of others.
How can other Alabama fans defend this? We have a coach making $7 million a year and he can't figure out how to stop his biggest rival? He can't change his style or adapt?
I understand safety, I get it, but even as an Alabama fan I have to say it's a bullshite out and excuse to try and slow down that which you can't stop on your own.
ETA: certainly I'm not the only Alabama fan to feel this way.
This is all silly. Lots of hyperbole from the football world on this matter.
Is Saban's main beef with the HUNH player safety? Of course not. But, more plays means more opportunity for injury, and he certainly cares about keeping his best players on the field. His main concern is the advantage that the HUNH gives to offenses. He's old school. Most football fans, especially the vocal ones these days, are not. They like xbox and they LOVE a chance to get a dig in at mean old Saban.
Personally, I don't like what the HUNH is doing to the game, just as Saban doesn't. I understand that I'm apparently in the minority, at least when it comes to those talking about it. But, I don't care. I know what I know and like what I like, and it isn't based on how much I hate a coach who has dominated the football world.
People are making way too much out of "Saban not being able to stop" these offenses. He has beaten far more HUNH teams than he's lost to. Saban isn't going to win every game. He lost to AU and OK last year. So what? Frankly, that Bama team wasn't great on either side of the ball. To think this decision is going to bring down the mighty Saban is just wishful thinking by those that hate him. As more and more teams run this offense, he'll simply switch his personnel to adjust. Then, he'll dominate the HUNH teams, and the closer games will be against traditional offenses.
I'm embarrassed about nothing.

think this rule would do better to bring the defense and offensive back into more balance after all the targeting rules and such.
There is far more inequality pre-snap against the offense then the defense. This proposed rule makes it more inequitable.

How else do you get rules to pass in the NCAA? I just see that as the normal process used.

I look at it this way. The only teams that beat us, are the ones that are one hit wonders, LSU, and Auburn of which has never had a stable QB that wasn't a transfer from another SEC School/CC.
So really, I don't know. Alabama wins 11 games a year on average. So chances are, your team is gonna get paid back anyway.

is the offense allowed to sub without any restrictions like the D?
Is the offense allowed to move unrestricted like the D?
Does the D have to be in a particular formation or position on the field like the O?
Etc...
as I said the Offense is far more restricted then the defense. If you want balance and equality, change the rules so the d has to line up a certain way, can only move in a certain way pre snap, sub in the same manor
