We need Gurley to play 4 quarters close to 100%. If we don't have that...it may not be pretty. Our team is fighting hard through the injuries this year though, I'll give them that.

Right now Auburn is looking way past the UGA game and thinking it can unseat Alabama in the Ironbowl with sponsored by the ugliest bobble headed statue in CFB (vulcan).

Auburn will murder a now depleted and horrible Tennessee team and think itself invincible come our game and this is the opportunity needed to kick those foolish ones in their tooth.

I can't wait to go down there for the game with my red & black toilet paper in hand!

Arkansas is the first AU game I watched this year. I think we can hang w/ them personally - assuming Gurley and Conley are near 100%.

I think we'll score a bunch of points. We always play well on the plains, even in 2010. I expect a 42-38 type game with it going either way.

If Gurley is closer to 100% I could see it but the Dawgs are gonna have to play a perfect game on STs IYAM

Receiving Corps for the AU game should be close to 100% with these guys to throw to....Bennett, Conley, Davis, Wooten and Rumph. I see the TE's getting more involved in the play calling now that quality receivers will be on the field. If Brendan Douglas learn to secure the ball we may be better as a team than we were for the first 4 games. The run defense is good and the secondary should be healthy with more experience.

Wow. those are eye opening stats. Perhaps we are not as bad as we thought on defense? I knew at times we looked very, very good. We are still not where we need to be on third down, but we should ll remember we have an EXTREMELY young defense that should get much better next year. I believe our secondary will show the most improvement. they will need to for us to do well.

To a large extent this game hinges on how well our defense is prepared for Malzahn's offense. We will pretty quickly find out if Grantham is worth what we are paying him. If Gurley is healthy by then, Georgia will get enough points to win the game. If our special teams are as good as they were vs Florida and our defense can stop Auburn on some key drives, then we can upset them in their house. But if we have the same problem with turnovers that have been characteristic of our losses this season, then we will likely be looking at another disappointing loss.

I cannot remind myself enough, that every one of our losses have been due to mistakes/TO's. We had more first downs and more passing and rushing yardage vs Missouri yet we lost the game going away because Missouri collected 4 turnovers and we got none.

We've really owned Auburn the past 7 years outside of their NC team with Cam and Fairley. We even kept it semi close in that game with our worst team of the Richt era.

I think we will beat Auburn soundly if Gurley is 100%. They will score but I think we will put up 40+. They are a much improved team over last year but their record is a mirage. I think they are about as good as Ole Miss. They will struggle this weekend in Knoxville I bet.

Aa sign of a good defense is that it holds on 3rd down. We don't. Doesn't matter if its 3rd and 2, or 3rd and 15. Besides FL (a very bad offense), who have we held on 3rd downs this year?

I'm nervous as hell because we've just struggled so much against you guys during Richt's tenure.

Not defending Grantham but this stat caught me by surprise too....

Valid and not surprised considering much of our demise is attributed to TO's and special teams mistakes. Easily the most valiant series for our defense was turning back Florida after failing to convert on 4th down on our own 39 yard line. Honestly I thought the game was over at that point but I was elated to see our defense rise up.

Gonna be an interesting test...say what you want but I do like the way CTG turned the defense loose vs the turds and also liked the way we stuck with our assignments when we weren't blitzing...gonna be a very different gameplan vs AU but it seems our guys are progressing especially in the secondary.

Yea, I'm well aware that UFAG sucks on offense and no one has been a bigger critic of CTG on this board than myself.

I'd be more impressed if the D were able to do that against a real offense.

Things to consider:

Marshall has a hurt throwing shoulder. UT may not win, but I am guessing they are going to be trying to hit him or tackle him as hard as possible the whole game.

Auburn hasn't had an offweek since September and will be coming off of 3-4 road games- two of which weren't exactly short hops.

Yes, they looked impressive in their one win over a good team this year, but that good team, TAMU, has a worse defense than UGA does.

I would love to have Conley back, but alas that doesn't look good at the moment. iF Murray can get some quality time and reps in with the whole WR corps against Appy State, I think the offense with Gurley back in will hum along nicely. AUburn's D hasn't exactly been outstanding when not playing sisters of the poor.

While this UGA team hasn't done great with read option QBs, all those QBs have been pretty good passers with really good receivers- both of AU's QB and WRs are average. And yes this defense is better against the run than pass.

I'll be surprised if AU isn't approaching 200 yds on the ground by the end of the game. Don't think you're giving the AU running game enough credit and giving our defense way too damn much. But that's me.

They very well may end up with 200 because with Marshall's bum shoulder, they don't want to have to throw it much. IF the offense is humming and gets a good lead, then AUburn trying to keep up by passing is not what they want to do.
