Here another JUCO DE that is going to move up the rankings with the quickness.

https://247sports.com/Player/Marquavius-Lewis-36312

He's from SC, played HS ball over at Greenwood.

Aub, UF, Bama and USC stand out right now, but we probably have the edge b/c he said that his family coming to see him play is a big deal for him.

I think Aub is going to be the main competition here. It's about a 6 1/2 hour drive for his family to Tusc, Ala, or Gainesville, FL, but it's only about 4 1/2 to Auburn and just under 90 minutes to Columbia.

He's getting a lot of offers right now, he had a great season for a FR JUCO player.

We offered a Top TE today Chris Clark, from CT. He likes Mangus, likes SC, is friends with a OG recruit we like but haven't offered named Hatton. He's coming for a visit this spring. We are looking to be in a good starting position, but he's already had a lot of interest and contact from other programs, so we'll see how it goes.

Jalen Christian 4 Star ATH, #1 player in MD, has been favoring Va Tech and USC...something changed today and now JC from 247 is predicting SC. It has something to do with opportunity to play WR at USC. We're losing several Sr's next year and the depth chart could be wide open so that is going to be attractive to several WR's...especially considering that Connor Mitch is a known gunslinger and our OL recruiting has been on point.

Christian just came out with his top 11, and VT wasn't even among them, so definitely something happened regarding them:

Clemson is adding some majors that will allow them to at last bring in JUCO prospects. Previously they frowned heavily on doing that, so they never had that as an option for filling positional needs quickly. They are now going after both DJ Jones and Marquavius Lewis...

I think Christian is coming to USC, we're trending big time. Damascus also produces D1 talent at a high level every year. It would be good to get a pipeline going, especially after Locksley leaves Maryland and Edsall are fired this year.

I was just surprised that they didn't do that already, they're not an academic school, that's a just a front they put up.

I like the 3 big JUCO's we're going after, the 2 you named and then Prince Palmer who's now up in PA, but is from Coastal NC. We could use all of them next year with the graduation/NFL/attrition that is about to happen.

We also made the cut for an elite CB, Garrett Taylor. He and Ricky DeBerry are teammates. Both are Top100 players and we are in a good position with both, but the competition for them will be tough.

It's good that we are getting in with all these elite guys, but there's plenty of elite talent to go around just in SC this 2015 cycle, we really, really need to focus on bringing as much of that in-state talent in as possible and really locking up the state. Clemson will get theirs, and UGA will get some too, but I want us to be sitting on top when it's all said and done.

ETA: specifics.

2015 SC LB commit Sherrod Pittman invited to Nike's The Opening. BAW was there last year. Pittman is an elite LB, we're lucky to have him already on board.

Heard dat. Doesn't seem like the vocal recruiter BAW was though. I hope we have another guy step up like that for us again this cycle.

Torrance Gibson #1 Dual Threat QB wants to visit SC this coming week. He'll be taking several visits for his Spring Break. We haven't offered, but he has offers from just about everybody.

4 Star CB Mark Fields

Mark Fields II ?@JussMe_MF 44m
I will be playing in the SEC... Big boy ish
?????? ya feel me

His 5 SEC offers are SC, Bama, Tenn, Miss and UGA. We've been in the lead for a long time, but Bama just got in the picture a few weeks ago. LSU hasn't offered, but they offered several other DB's recently. He'll be here this weekend for the Jr Day I believe.

I've read elsewhere that if LSU offers Fields, he's as good as gone to them...

I hope not, as I don't have the best of feelings about Minka Fitzgerald despite him also having us high on his list. I think he ends up somewhere closer to his home. But with all the stud DB talent we brought in with this year's class, it's not as big of a need anymore it used to be, IMO...

I"m surprised we're even being considered from guys like Fields and Fitzpatrick since we brought in 5 dbs last class.

Oh well, as soon as I post the above, all the recruiting "insiders" with 24/7 start "crystal-balling" Fields to USC. Haha, which would be great of course if he comes to us!!

Me too honestly: the incoming class of DBs is better than solid. The only thing I can think of our coaches telling others is, several of the incoming talent (Smalls, D.J. Smith come to mind) most likely will develop into safeties as their careers go, and we've always rotated our CBs if we had the ability to.

Ultimately I see Smith, Lammons, and Green being predominantly CBs, and add to that Groves, McWilliams and Jamari Smith, and that's our CB depth going forward. The 3 returning CBs will have their work cut out for them to stay atop the depth charts with some of these talented studs coming in.

It could just be a case where we go from bringing in a heavy CB class for 2015 - like we would've probably had we just stuck with the initial 3 DB class and Hampton and Christian came back for 2014 - to now only bringing in a 2 or 3 CB class (maybe only a 1 or 2 CB class) and we say to the prospects "first commits gets the scholarships". And then we put more focus on other positions of need....

Michael-Bowman and his younger brother, Kyran-Bowman are going to announce Thursday. I believe Mike picks USC, I don't know about Kyran. Both are really good, so I hope we get both. I saw the highlights of Mike's 3 Catch on 3 Targets, 3 TD, 171 yard game this season, he's the real deal.
