Only if Petrino had taken over a team full of juniors and seniors.

Please breakdown the overall record by season as it's usually an indicator of the progress a new coach is making.

Ill hang up and listen

This thread is full of fail on both sides. I'm completely dumber for opening this thread.

Petrino inherited a rebuilding job.
Nutt inherited a stacked Ole Miss team.

Two different situations, your test doesn't really apply.

What's Nutt been up to while all the other SEC teams (with the exception of Vandy) have been practicing and playing in Bowl games this year?

Has he been recruiting for his '11 class?

Translation: Nutt won with someone else's players.

I'm glad you are happy with him, I really am.

The guy who had those players before couldn't win with them.

You're right, nobody who contributed to Arkansas this season was recruited by Nutt. Not one of them. Get a grip.

I'm not, actually.

Also funny you mention Petrino inherited a rebuilding job, why is that? Oh yes, because the previous coach didn't recruit or develop any depth on our roster leaving is thin in several areas an having the rely on young players.

Sounds familiar doesn't it Rebel fans?

But to this point he's had more success than petrino.

It's put up or shut up next year.

To this point? Is wining a couple Cotton bowls > getting to a BCS bowl and possible finishing in the top 10?

Only in Oxford

Or because programs like Ole Miss and Arkansas need rebuilding years?

I guess the flagship is a reload type program, huh?

Bottom line:

We (Arkansas) are very happy with our coach and prospects for the future.

You (Ole Miss) seem very happy with your coach and prospects for the future.

We are also happy for you and your coach.

What are we arguing for?

Thank you, and in the words of 'the Hat': Have a great day!

Entirely serious question: do any Arkansas fans think the environment surrounding the Arkansas program had anything to do with him struggling to recruit in his final years there? He hasn't had many problems recruiting in Oxford, so the guy obviously knows how. Seriously, don't any of you think the local media, newspapers, Hogville, flying banners, and grumpy arse fans had at least a modicum of a negative impact on Arkansas recruiting?

Agreed, we are all content with our coaches that's all that really matters.

Arkansas was embarrassed in that BCS bowl.

I wish it were that easy. But every Ole Miss thread about anything Nutt is brought up. Arky fans please stop we flat out don't give a frick and it is old. Nutt is 2-1 against Petrino (I know I am using MSU logic just stay with me) and has had great recruiting success for us. Next year is put up or shut up. He either wins 6 or is not our coach anymore. If he can win 6 in the SECw and BYU and @Fresno OOC I think he will be having us in the right direction. If not then he is out plain and simple.

2006 was a great season for Nutt and Arkansas. Petrino matched/exceeded Nutt's best season in year 3. That's how long it took him to completely revamp the team and do more than Nutt ever did.

I always crack up at OM posters who claim some sort of superiority in football. No, Arkansas hasn't been a national power since we've joined the SEC. But we're damn sure a notch above Ole Miss. Here are some questions that always shut OM fans up:

Since expansion, have you ever played in the SECCG? Everyone in the West has but you. We've played in 3.

Since expansion, how many 10 win regular seasons have you had? None? We've had two in the last 5 years.

Since expansion, have you been to a BCS bowl, or even a Capital One bowl? None, again? We've been to three.

Repeat same argument with slightly different questions (NCAA tourneys, Final Fours, NC's, CWS) for basketball and baseball.

And for anyone from MSU chiming in:

12 of the last 13. How's my arse taste?
