no mentions of tapes in ESPN report

i was hoping none of this was true but its really looking bad for us. but if they had tapes, he would not have been playing. there is no way those would not already be public by now.

It says they were just turned over last week, once the story started coming out. That makes sense, and explains why AU let him play, if true. Also:
I believe it

wow....just wow.
Auburn can kiss the 2010 season (and possibly the next 5 years) goodbye.

According to that TCU poster (who is pretty fricking credible considering he posted the ESPN story about 9 hours before ESPN) the booster who had the tapes only turned them in a week ago.

I read on another board, more is to come on this story.
Including, allegations against another SEC school: Tennessee.

Does anyone here believe they could get the death penalty? I'd say it's not out of the question.
If that's the case, then it'll be way more than 5 years they can kiss goodbye. SMU got the death penalty in 1987 and they have never recovered. That's what's going to happen to Auburn if they get the death penalty. They're irrelevant forever.

Yeah someone in another thread just said the same thing... which means it is most likely true. Good ol' Lane Kiffin

I don' think anybody will ever get the death penalty again. SMU never recovered. I think Auburn will get some serious, serious sanctions, though. They will lose a lot of scholarships, be off TV and out of bowls for three years.

Yeah I've always heard they would never do the death penalty again, but since Auburn is a repeat offender, is it really inconceivable that they could get the death penalty? This is serious stuff..

Auburn won't lose any TV time. Alabama got hit for allegedly paying $150,000 for Albert Means to come to Alabama and loss of TV was not one of the penalties.

state phone recording laws
Twelve states require, under most circumstances, the consent of all parties to a conversation. Those jurisdictions are California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington.
the booster with the tape has broken wiretap laws.

See...there's an easy way around this. The booster could have been in Mississippi while this was going on.

What if the recording took place in MS? He may live in FL, but it doesn't mean 100% that he took the call there.

Haha it would be a TCU fan... that's almost poetic justice.

You can tape conversationa legally in Mississippi and many lawyers do it regularly. I am not sure about Florida law, and never meet a big MSU alumni from Destin, ever. I would bet it is a lawyer from Mississippi who owns a house in Destin. If so, then I can list names of possible people. This would explain the rumors. He would keep tapes to protect MSU. FBI would start investiagtion after getting tapes. This is all making sense now, even the amounts as Newton needed abouit 60k to fix the church in question.
Sorry Auburn fans, this really sucks for you guys and SEC but this kid is toast...and you probably are too.
