Yeah....that's why me and the poster above me wrote what we did. Mine was just in the form of a hypothetical.

Well, even if the guy taped it in Florida, the NCAA is not a court of law and admissibility requirments would not have to be met.

Additionally, in Florida, committing this offense is only a misdemeanor and I bet the guy will happily pay the fine if he is prosecuted.

So - if there are indeed tapes of these conversations - one can only assume that they are already in the hands of the FBI.

Does anyone here believe they could get the death penalty? I'd say it's not out of the question.

So if Auburn gets the death penalty in FB, I assume the SEC replaces them with another school? If not, we wouldn't be able to hold a championship game, would we?

EDIT: And DAMN... How bad do you have to be to get booted out of the SEC?

If the tapes are in the hands of the FBI, then it is likely that nothing will happen for quite some time with respect to the SEC and NCAA. If the matter is under criminal investigation, my guess is that the NCAA and SEC will not take any steps that would be deemed to be interference with the FBI's investigation. Short of public admission by the Newtons (which isn't going to happen), this whole matter will then be months away from any kind of resolution. This is unfortunate because if there was a violation causing Cam to be ineligible, it won't be addressed until after the damage to other schools' positions in the conference championship race (and potentially the NC race) becomes irreversible.

If this is under criminal investigation, what would the involved parties(the Newtons, Boosters, Auburn) be charged with?

if auburn was to get the death penalty id say there is a chance they would get the boot. auburn doesn't bring enough in other areas to make up for zero football worth for like 25 years in a row.

if this goes deeper than cam which it probably does then it could be entering that type of area that would warrant a death penalty.

I have no idea what would happen. I can't imagine they would get kicked out of the SEC just because they had to drop one sport. But I guess according to NCAA rules we wouldn't be allowed to hold a championship game. Maybe they would give some kind of special treatment to the conference given the situation

I'm guessing that the SEC would keep Auburn, but pick up member 13 to take their place in the football schedule...

Hmmm... I wonder how the big southwest is working out for TAMU?

i just dont think auburn brings enough to the table to stay around without football.

tcu brings just as much as them.

a football team not on probation, the basketball team can't be worse than auburn and the baseball team is top 10.

tcu was clearly behind all of this
