Duke Williams - kicked off the team, disastrous '15
Sammie Coates - SEC quality WR/ drop issues
Ricardo Louis - SEC quality WR/ drop issues
Darvin Adams - Tuberville
Terrell Zachery - Tuberville
Emory Blake - SEC quality WR
Rod Smith - Tubeville, right?

All of the above played wide receiver much more than anything else...

So do most of our WR recruits and they suck too

He probably ends up wildcat QB/WR. He is a legit QB and is extremely dangerous with the ball in his hands.

Kerryon Johnson should be a slot WR / back in motion not getting a direct snap. Wasting part of his skillset (receiving)

Duke Williams
Sammie Coates
Ricardo Louis
Darvin Adams
Terrell Zachery
Emory Blake
Rod Smith

played much better than

CJ Uzomah
Quan Bray
Jason Smith
Stanton Truitt
Kodi Burns
Jonathan Wallace
Ricky Parks

and it isn't even close.

They're still better than the guys that make the transition and that isn't even up for debate.

There's obviously a larger numbers of guys recruited that were pure receivers, but the success rate of transitioning a guy in Auburn's offense has been slim to none. Quan Bray was the most successful and impactful player, granted some of these guys still have time to improve. It just seems like a waste of time in most cases.

I don't like it. I know others don't like it. The coaching staff obviously does for whatever reason.

Should say

Former FSU "Dual Threat" QB to transfer to AU

Glad somebody has some sense.

I'm throwing out TE's because we don't use them anyway. Also throwing out ex starting QB's that were moved to WR to block and be team captain/feel good stories because that's just retarded to throw them in with the group below.

Quan Bray - meh
Jason Smith - too early to tell
Stanton Truitt - too early to tell

Did Parks even make it a season at AU?

Truitt has been injured both years he's been here. Nice inclusion.

And we are including Burns and Wallace when they moved to WR because they weren't going to see any time at QB? Another nice inclusion.

Jason Smith
Can we just look at Adams & Coates first eight games of their Auburn career if we are going to make comparisons?

CJ Uzomah
Fulse was elite tho

Rod Smith
Going all the way back to the 2005 class now? And a walk-on no less?

Just read the article on rivals. That kid thinks he's going to be playing QB.

So did Jason smith. Welcome to recruiting. Haven't seen this kid play but if he can catch and run we can use him.

Its probably one of those, "He will have a change to try out" deals.

Lets just hope he watched old 2013-2014 Nick Marshall tapes all winter.

How many players have we recruited and transitioned to quarterback, later to really find success? That's my point. There's one, Quan Bray. It's just a waste of time, IMO.

Jason Smith might turn out to be pretty good, but that's yet to be seen. I would hope he does.

It's just my opinion that I'd rather not recruit these types of guys, just like I'd rather not recruit a bunch of smaller wide receivers.

He thinks he will compete to be the starting QB per the article.

He'll move the first week of Spring ball if he does not impress.

Yeah but you're ignoring all of the WRs that stayed at WR that didn't pan out also. You're clinging to a small sample size that ignores the fact that only so many recruits pan out I'm just arguing that the fact that they played QB in high school isn't why they sucked. We've had 50 high school wide outs that stayed at wide out and also sucked.

You could argue that our staff has recruited 3 guys that played QB to play WR.

They are Quan Bray, Jason Smith, and Truitt. And only Bray can we truly say didn't pan out.

Your sample size is too small to argue this. It's absolutely absurd

I'd rather recruit the best athletes. Who play qb in high school.

That reflects on our implementation/development of players not the strategy.

If the player can catch the ball and is athletic, that says more about our coaches ability to teach the position.

Looks pretty confident to me.
