I don't see the problem with this.

We aren't taking him as a QB

Honestly I think he's worth the scholly. His latest hudl film is pretty good.

We lack big play athletes on offense and he has big play potential. Can't bitch about big plays and then gripe about signing safe possession receivers.

Come to the recruiting thread. JF3 has been discussed a lot.

Wasn't this school he's coming from involved in that huge trash can throwing ghetto brawl?

Yes. He apparently wasn't involved.

Yeah look how well we are using Jason Smith.... Think we should just get a HS guy instead of JUCO.

I don't care what level they come from we need explosive players. JF3 has 10.5/100 explosive speed and those guys don't just grow off trees.

So he's going to have to transition to a new position and we get him for two years. I just don't see the reason in wasting a scholly on this guy and then passing on the other JUCO QB.

Seems like that measure indicates he's slow (sarcasm)

Do they grow on them, then?

This isn't that tough to figure out.

Staff doesn't want another QB. Yes, JF3 plays QB in JUCO but he practiced at WR at FSU prior to leaving. It's not like the dude has never lined up out wide

He's also an All-ACC track and field performer.

Because we need even more former QBs as wide receivers right? Can he catch?

I don't really like taking quarterbacks and transitioning them to other positions on offense, like tight end of wide receiver. Auburn hasn't had a high success rate doing this.

Kodi Burns was never great. CJ Uzomah, even though Gus Malzahn doesn't really use tight ends, was never anything special. Jason Smith has shown questionable hands. Quan Bray was pretty damned good. Stanton Truitt stays hurt. Jonathan Wallace, as good as a leader and teammate as he is, is a bad wide receiver. Ricky Parks...we don't even have to talk about him. And so forth.

Plus, I really wish the staff would start recruiting bigger receivers.

Our potential guys next year:

Elijah Stove: 6'0, 170 pounds (recruit, might be inflated)
Marquis McClain: 6'2, 207 pounds (recruit, might be inflated)
Marcus Davis: 5'9, 180 pounds
Ryan Davis: 5'9, 183 pounds
Stanton Truitt: 5'9, 175 pounds
Darius Slayton: 6'1, 180 pounds
Gray King: 5'10, 170 pounds
Jason Smith: 6'1, 180 pounds

I'm worried Gus is already planning a 2 QB system

FWIW we haven't had high successes with WRs in general either lately. I don't think the issue is what they played in HS

2012
Ricardo Louis - sec quality/ issues with drops
Jaquay Williams/Savage (Didn't qualify)

2013
Tony Stevens - terrible blocker, minimal production
Dom Walker - no longer on the team
Jason Smith (Didn't qualify - 2015)
Earnest Robinson (Didn't qualify)

2014
Duke (kicked off team)
Truitt - injured/too early
Myron Burton (left team - definitely missing this guy right now)

2015
Kyle Davis - too early
Slayton - too early
Smith - too early

Yea, but it's more success than changing a quarterback to wide receiver, even though some high schools put their best athlete at quarterback.

Duke Williams
Sammie Coates
Ricardo Louis
Darvin Adams
Terrell Zachery
Emory Blake
Rod Smith

All of the above played wide receiver much more than anything else...
