Bill Clark is the only acceptable answer but it is pointless because Gus isn't getting fired and he hasn't lost the team.

Only acceptable answer, as in only coach we should hire if Gus were gone?

If so, you are crazy

A 7-5 season gets him gone and seeing 7 wins is pushing it

This is the best way to expose yourself as an alter.

Anyone who thinks we can't win 5 games out of the following dumpster fires on ourschedule is either an alter or a moron

Mizz
LSU
Ole Miss
TAMU
Arkansas
LaMonroe

"I keep seeing Jeff Brohm thrown around but I don't know much about him other than he coaches at Purdue. Does he have a preference to what type of offense or defense he wants to run? Or does let the coordinators have free run of it"
----------
Brohm was a QB at Lville under Schnellenberger and was an outstanding college QB (believe he beat UAT in bowl game) His dad was HS coach, his brother played QB for Lville -- football family. Played in NFL mostly backup for several years. Has coached under Schnellenberger and Pertino. High powered offenses at WKU

The worry about Brohm to me is that he has had up and down success over his career.

He was OC at Louisville under Kragthorpe then fell to QB coach at FAU then Illinois before being an OC again. He has been an OC for only 3 years of his career which is extremely limited

Even his WKU success you can't ignore that he inherited teams from Taggart/Petrino. Both guys are top coaches

My concern as well.

I think all things considered, IF we could get Stoops, that's our best option. He's got enough experience that he's proven, but still young enough where he isn't on the decline and has a lot of good years in front of him.

My only hesitation is the circumstances around him leaving Oklahoma. People have said it's because of how he handled the Mixon situation. The last thing I want is a culture where players might get into the same kinds of trouble

8 wins or less with this team and he should be fired especially if we continue to not find the endzone. If we were to play Bama tomorrow I doubt we would score.

Score?

I would be more content with seeing Auburn cross the 50 - but even then, Daniel Carlson has had some uncharacteristic misses this year so far.

New to the board. I love Auburn, hate Malzahn. I'm about to make some statements that rely on AU doing the right thing and firing both Jacobs and Malzahn. Two guys who's stubbornness and ineptitude have relegated AU to a second rate program despite top 10 recruiting classes year in and year out...

I have to agree on Brohm. He has had success at Western Kentucky. That success followed successful tenures by Taggart and Petrino. This guy may just be a coattail rider like Butch Jones was for Brian Kelly. He followed successful Kelly stops at CMU and Cincy. He won at both and parlayed the success into the Tennessee job, we all know how that's going. If I could choose our next coach out of a pool of reasonable candidates it would have to be Derek Mason as my first choice and second choice would be Petrino. Mason is an excellent defensive mind. He thrived as a DC at Stanford under Harbaugh and Shaw. He has also taken his licks at Vandy as a HC and turned that program into a winner. Having success at both Stanford and Vandy, two programs that can't recruit everyone like Auburn can is impressive. My only hangup with Mason is that his OC hire is going to have to be excellent or we'll end up like Muschamp's Florida squads. His current OC Ludwig seems okay, but I think he could hire better at Auburn. We could also probably get Mason between the 3m-3.5m range, another plus.

Mason was DB coach under Harbaugh -- moved to DC when Shaw got the job

I need to see how Vandy finished this season before I jump on board. He's had many of the same issues as Gus (indecision at QB, bad offenses, great defenses) but he has shown improvement opposed to Malzahn regression. Just think some are overreacting to good start this year

Hard to judge Mason too much on his offense/QB. It isn't like he has the talent nor does he have the $ to hire a high quality OC that's willing to go to Vandy. Still, Shurmar was settled in 2016 and shown huge improvement along the ways. If Mason is the real deal defensively, Auburn has the money to bring in a guy who is at least a solid OC.

As for the overreaction, the guy has made strides with his Vandy team each year he has been there. He inherited a dumpster fire with a huge scandal and limited recruiting ability and makes them competitive

I just don't see a slam dunk upgrade out there -- it will be more fingers crossed hoping the guy is better -- which usually isn't the case.
Not sure Chip Kelly will play well in the south.
Lets watch a few more games and see how things play out

Of course John Gruden wants to come

I think it's fair to be concerned about his ability to do just that. No doubt he's an outstanding defensive coach but I worry he might have same problems Muschamp and Kirby Smart do hiring subpar OCs

Vandy went 9-4 the two previous seasons before he arrived. Far from a dumpster fire. There was a major scandal he helped navigate through no doubt but Franklin rebuilt that program

I'm not anti Mason. He looked over his head when he first got there but has definitely improved and could end up the next big thing. I wanna see him finish this year though before I jump fully on board.

Now if he goes out and beats Bama this weekend hire him immediately

Whoever said Strong's teams are sloppy, you weren't lying. Watching USF now.

Also, USF dance team uniforms are fire.
