If Sean White is still starting, then Jeremy Johnson must be looking hopelessly bad. It is pretty obvious who the coaches actually want starting.

I honestly want to see them both play. If Sean has a few drives with no points, put JJ in for a few drives and then play the hot hand.

Agree with this. Gus was wanting JJ to start badly. Maybe JJ can get it together by next year, but if the game is moving to fast for you its likely he won't ever improve.

It's great to hear SW is starting. Yes, this must mean JJ hasn't really shown anything to make the coaches think he's improved.

SW is only half the equation though. If we call plays like we have a tampon in, we'll lose. Gus and/or Rhett needs to open it up completely if they want to turn the season around. This means no reverses on 3rd and longs (we should only do these when in hurry-up mode). This means we go hurry-up after the first firstdown. This means sticking with one RB for the majority of the game (think MASON in 2013—we let him get in rhythms).

I honestly don't want to see JJ play QB anymore. Maybe he could put on weight and be a TE next season.

Yes, Jason Campbell had a night/day turnaround from 2003–2004, but even he didn't look as bad as JJ is in 2003. JC actually led us to big wins over UT and Arky that year (there was light at the end of the tunnel). JJ seems hopeless.

Auburn didn't score a TD until the third game of the year...

Exactly. I was a huge JJ proponent. It's clear the kid just doesn't have it. I don't know how much more you have to see to understand that. White may not look the part, but I'd rather win 8-9 games with him than lose with JJ.

I was about to rebut this point with the fact that USC's defense that year was just flat out filthy, and there was no shame in not scoring a TD against them.

Until I went back and checked their record that season, and saw where they gave up 32 to Hawaii and 34 to Cal, both before the month of September ended.

Then I remembered our second opponent was GA Tech, who held us to 3 points. And I recalled that they gave up 39 to Clemson just two weeks after they played us, and went on to give up 41 in a loss to Duke - who had fired their HC just a few days before, and named their DC as interim. Guy named Roof.

Yeah, JJ has sucked this year. But the first two games of 2003 will go down in AU history as the very model of offensive futility.
