Hasn't PSU's line been abysmal? Idk what they had talent wise due to the sanctions but that doesn't get the juices flowing.

Great we gonna hire the offensive line coach whose QB got sacked the most in the FBS this year...

Okay, but WHY did we want to get Grimes off the field? Did Gus think he's gotten too old?

I want Rhett gone, but CDC will just be the same. Gus needs somebody with experience that can provide a different perspective, not just another yes man.

#Auburning

I swear Gus is actively trying to make the worst possible hires to try and take some of the blame off himself. I'm starting to lose all hope for next season

From JGT
-JB appears headed to Cincy as FBallscoop reported
-AU was hoping JB would accept a support position here but Tubs, from Arky like JB, is offering an on field spot
-Herb Hand @ Penn St & formerly @ Tulsa w/ Gus is the clear favorite to replace JB.
-Rhett is interviewing w/ a team @ Coaches Convention, Think it's Cincy but not 100% sure
-Horton in the mix as OC @ UCF & has interviewed
-CDC likely takes over as OC if Rhett leaves

Lashlee leaves.

Grimes replaced by Hand.

Craig coaches QBs.

I can deal with all of this.

Hand worked with Malzahn for some fricking awesome offenses at Tulsa.

Cincy hired the Dolphins OC... lashlee won't be going there.

As for hand, he's struggled at PSU but his reputation is solid... and he's a very good recruiter.

That way he can still coach the OL, but does not have the grind of on the road recruiting. That would be my guess.

That's what you get when your HC is 10 years removed Springdale High School. Connections are huge in coaching and Gus doesn't have many.

It's like I was saying in the Jay Jacobs thread. We need to get out of this rut of hiring guys with connections to the Auburn Good Ole Boy Network. Because right now our network is shite. It gets us 5-19 coaches and a HS coaches that nobody wants to work with. Bama went outside their zone to get Saban, and now when he leaves he's brought multiple championship caliber coaches into their network they can choose from.

The funny thing about that was Malzahn's official title was "passing game coordinatorn"

Any reason to overreact is a reason immediately and vociferously acted upon.

There wasn't a reason given. I would have posted it if there was.

If it ain't a part of his philosophy Gus ain't gonna listen. Getting an experienced guy in that case would be pointless. Plus CDC could conceivably see being passed over as OC as a slap in the face given the work he already put in & being the Co OC now in title & very well bail. Who knows, maybe Gus would get back to calling nearly all the plays if CDC is OC. That would not be a bad thing IMO.

It wasn't said Lashlee was or was not interviewing specifically for the OC spot.

Yeah, if Lashlee leaves and we bring in Hand along with moving DC to OC we might get a bit of fresh air in the offense and knock Gus out of his offensive rut a bit.

Gus had great offenses when he was co-OC with Hand at Tulsa.

I think perhaps the other O lineman leaving for the draft only reinforce this rumor.

Also when did we only start playing 3 OL in years? Starting 5 plus backups is 30 players over 3 seasons. Guess the other 90% do not matter because 3 player were good.
Wait, you think we've had 5 separate starters and 5 separate backups over the past 3 years?
