Bryan Matthews tweeted that the injury to NM was nothing serious and he should be good to go Saturday.

I just heard the same from my source. As of now, he is expected to play.

Said person will be at the athletic department later today to see how everything is going.

@JHokanson 52m

As @JayGTate noted couple weeks ago, Gus Malzahn confirms DT Jeff Whitaker is officially out for this season. Will redshirt and return

@JHokanson 52m

LB Justin Garrett won't play this week

@JHokanson 49m

Gus Malzahn says QB Nick Marshall's banged up knee isn't too serious, expects him to play.

@JHokanson 41m

Gus Malzahn said LB Cassanova McKinzy will practice this week. That's great news after being carted off on Saturday

@JHokanson 39m

Gus Malzahn said freshman QB Jeremy Johnson is improving, getting reps in practice. (The decision to redshirt or not has to be made soon)

And Jeff Whitaker was "day-to-day" a few weeks back.

With a torn ACL.

I'm certainly not saying it's legitimate, but it's out there, and what the coaches staff says doesn't always perfectly reflect reality (with good reason).

He probably just has an injury he could come back from but not be 100% for awhile. JW may not had made his mind up or they weren't sure how fast he would recover and when it was clear it would be awhile JW decided he wanted to RS instead of play the rest of the year. The coaches don't really have anything to gain by saying he may be back sometime when he really don't have a chance.

Why would anyone be upset if JJ performed well?

If being a fan of winning makes me an "NM fan" then so be it...

some people just look for a reason to complain.

Exactly....I guess we have done so well the last 2 years that a QB that led us to 4-1 is a bad thing now.

I really don't get it... marshall has come in and done everything we've asked of him. Obviously there are areas than need improvement, but how man first time starters make this kind of impact with two weeks of preseason practice?

He's played one really bad half of football down in a freaking monsoon in Baton Rouge... he's played winning football the rest of the time, imo.
