I think Nick is close and the first long throw to Coates was actually perfectly thrown until Ole Miss DB grabbed Coates some and Coates stopped running.

FIFY.

The best we can hope for is that Marshall's passing abilities continue to improve. If he can hit the deep ball consistently he'd be a good one.

Those long balls are interesting. I don't know if they are messing with the WRs timing by jamming them and a little contact, if Nick is overestimating their running speed or if Nick just can't place that long ball where it needs to be. Just getting ridiculous the amount of open downfield receivers we miss

Dropped passes also continue to hurt him. I still wonder if that messes with his head some in the passing game. I imagine not having faith in receivers really sucks.

He seems to be improving just wish it was at a faster pace.

An elite receiver would have at least made an effort to catch the ball and laid out for it.

Lay out and you risk landing awkwardly and injuring yourself. We can't afford that right now.

His speed slowed down into more of a jog. By running I mean sprinting and using his god given athletic ability.

His effort looked to have decreased after he got touched whether he thought he didn't have a chance or what.

After watching a couple of times now, although he was held I will agree he could have at least dove for the catch. Sammy has a ways to go to become an elite receiver. He only possesses elite speed at this time. Which is why I am hopeful DQ actually comes to AU for Sammy to learn from. I don't think DQ ends up on the plains though.

It did look like he slowed down. I figured he lost sight of the ball or something.

He is becoming pretty dangerous on those bubble screens/quick passes outside. Take away the Greg Robinson holding call and he would have back to back games with a 15+ yard screen pass

I agree though that he has a lot to learn. Route running, adjusting to the ball in the air, fricking catching the ball and blocking can all be worked on by Sammie

Why would we burn his redshirt so late in the year??

We're not even half way through the season, and there is still much to be fought for in terms of what can be accomplished this season. Marshall almost went down Saturday, then what? He needs game time experience because it's very well possible he'll have to carry the torch.

only 7 games left.

It's safe to say 8 at this point. That's well over half the season guys. It's not like we're winding this thing down already

Not saying it is winding down, but we are 4-1 with NM and see no reason to burn his RS, other than I am anxious to see him play. What would be the point to pull his RS? If someone can give a good reason I would like to see it.

I have a hard time seeing a true freshman QB making such an impact in a game that he is the difference between winning and losing. If he isn't the difference I don't see the point in burning that redshirt

The fact AU is 4-1 and Marshall was limping around Saturday night? He'll more than likely get banged up moving forward since it appears he'll be running a lot more. I guess we'll find out soon enough if the coaches believe Wallace or Tubs Jr. are sufficient to back-up Marshall. I dunno, I'm sure the Malzahn is as anxious to see Johnson as we are, especially if he's progressing as quickly as they say.

But ultimately I agree, the most intelligent option is keeping him out unless it's necessary, but damn I want to see him play

Nothing good can really come from JJ playing right now

Marshallmis in full control of the offense and learning. What do you do if JJ players well? Bench Marshall and play JJ and start all over at 5-1?

Let him keep his redshirt and be confident in Marshall at this time. While keeping Marshall's confidence up. He does need to be thinking about losing his job.

Bring a true freshman will not be the difference between a win and a lose so there is no reason to do it.

A&M, UGA, and Bama are games that we cannot win by bringing in a new QB so why do it.

Keep the redshirt...design a few plays for him for 2014 and the then let him and White battle it out in 2015.

Where is WDE24s RB list? I am anticipating the Hog's meltdown over being underrated

I expect our student section to look similar to this.
