what if threating Gus keep us from getting a 5 star recruit or 2 that would have put us over the top. It works both ways. Be on the bus completely until he is not behind the wheel.

I'm in the camp with atlau and StringedInstruments. Very well said guys and I echo every single one of your sentiments. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I will ride the Gus Bus in flames off the rarified peaks of Chewacla! I like the direction the program is headed and I'm excited to be a part of it!

Anyway, is there anyone still on the "fire Gus" bandwagon? If so, how do you justify it? And who do you think could do better (that is available)?
Yeah I'm not on the bus. Support the team and players but won't hurt me to see gus go

I'm not on the fire Gus bandwagon, but I'm definitely on the wait and see bandwagon. I have seen some improvements I like the past few weeks, but there are many of the same playcalling issues going on still, we've just been playing average or subpar defenses so it didn't matter.
Outside of the one big run our running game did not look great last night (though much of that is due to Gus stubbornly throwing injured backs out there). Stidham still looks pretty iffy under pressure as well, and he'll have to fix his issues there for us to do damage to Georgia and Bama.
Basically I'm waiting to see how we look against decent defenses, but I'm also not necessarily negative either.
Hopefully we keep showing improvement week to week, and have an offensive pulse against GA and AL. Cause as you say, I really don't see any good replacements right off hand.

I judge him by the O.
Clemson was a shite show. 11 sacks is a shite show. He's still got a long way to go to make it up to us.
I'm much more optimistic following the past couple games but its so hard to know if we've turned a corner or if our competition to date (outside of Clemson) has sucked.

Swoopin, I'm adding you to my short list. These are my sentiments exactly.

No. Because he still has not learned how to use Fall camp to evaluate talent.
This season looks just like last season. At this point I expect Stidham to get injured and Malik will start the uga and Bama games

So you are going to be fine if we lose to Georgia for the fourth year in a row? Your hypocrisy level is pretty high this year btw, given your negaLanier posting in previous seasons.

Im never OK with losing to anyone. But to base the entire season off two games is stupid. UGA is playing very well and will be a test for sure. And to base anything off what happens when we play Alabama is pretty asinine. Considering they are by far the best team in football and playing at a level that pretty much no other team in the NCAA can compete with. So do I think we should fire our coach if he loses to Alabama for the XXX time? Hell no. Its really not a fair comparison right now.
As for my NegaLanier, you really dont know the difference. Most people labeled me NegaLanier due to the fact I did not go Balls deep with Sean White as our QB. And if I am not mistaken, I was dead on with him. But some of you can not understand logic, you are either all in or all out.
This team is not perfect by any imagination. But its a very good team capable of winning a lot of games. And to want to fire our coach at every second along the way because he ran a wild cat play or didnt try to score late in the 2nd quarter with 10 seconds left on the clock it just put insanity.
Before you guys want to fire everyone, burn it down and start over. You had better take a look at the programs that have done that lately. Be careful what you ask for. Before you know it, you will be getting beat by Troy and getting your arse handed to you 41-0 by UGA.

Bro I’m glad you’ve turned a corner over the past couple of games but lets not act like you haven’t hated on this Auburn offense at any point this year. You were a huge nega through the whole offseason.

I still am not crazy about it. Its working some right now and getting better but I am and will always be a run first offense kind of guy. Id much rather rely on a offense where you can push people off the ball and get 4 yards at a a time than a high flying , high risk offense. Always
But, if we are going to be strapped with this offense, they are making it work so far. Its not perfect but its getting better. I would feel so much better if we could run the ball consistently but that may not happen with the pieces we have
Would I take the 2013/2014 offense over this one? In a New York second. But that is not what we are going to get. So I am not going to cash it in and be a dick all season because we are running it.

Fair enough. Continue on my good man.

I think the fanbase just has a hard time attaching their hopes and dreams to Gus Malzahn. A guy that has had two college HC jobs, Arkansas State and Auburn. This is a guy that if was fired tomorrow would at best land a HC job in the C-USA or Sun Belt.
It all boils down to the fact that the fanbase was divided by his initial hire. He appears to be an average coach at a program with elite players and no excuses for not competing for championships. 2010 and 2013 seem like flukes and until he proves everybody wrong, he will still have fans calling for his job.
Personally, I am still a little pissed that he left town when things got tough and everything went sideways in 2011. He goes and takes the Arkansas State job, has a good year with Freeze's players, and all of a sudden Jay Jacobs expects us to believe that he is some kind of savior.
Moral of the story, we have recruited top 10 talent for 7 years and have produced one top 10 team (2013). He has under performed and it doesn't help that Saban is running a GD championship factory right now. There is no reason that what is happening in Tuscaloosa can't happen in Auburn and Malzahn is the reason why...
