I admit I was on board the "fire Gus" train, but at this point how could anyone justify such a move? We massively overreacted to the Clemson loss. Turns out Clemson is probably the 2nd best team in the country and Gus is doing what Gus always does: sucking early in the season.

Anyway, is there anyone still on the "fire Gus" bandwagon? If so, how do you justify it? And who do you think could do better (that is available)?

I was the biggest Gus supporter until Clemson.

I'll admit, I'm cautiously optimistic now. I want Gus to be the guy. I'm not fully back on board, but I'm not calling for his head either.

The reason why is there isn't anyone out there who I think could come in and do better except for Stoops.

And now you might be overreacting the other way.

Let's let the season play out and not have an overreaction to every swing.

I’m just fatigued by the slow starts to every season, the inability to have good quarterback play without a JUCO, and losing lots of big games.

2014 was an okay season but still a disappointment due to the insane talent on offense.

2015 and 2016 were very poorly prepared Auburn teams.

We’ve lost three straight to Georgia and Alabama.

We got embarrassed by Oklahoma on a national stage.

This season is promising but it’s still very similar to previous seasons in that we are hitting our stride but could still see losses to our main rivals.

It’s not that I’m still saying fire the guy, but Auburn isn’t a program looking for good-ole 9 win seasons. We want to compete for championships and Gus hasn’t proven he can do that outside of his first season.

Here’s to beating down Ole Miss to set up a pivotal game in Baton Rouge (haven’t won there in a very, very long time).

Nope. At this point I hope we fire Gus and Jacobs just to shut up the 90% of the "fans" that know better and I hope that wherever Gus winds up, I hope the fans support him from day 1 and he wins a lot of championships. Then I hope we hire a slam dunk of a coach that still sucks because we can't get our top guys on the board each year due to a looming shadow in the state right now.

I'm honestly starting to believe that we have the worst fan base out there. When we win our fans are fine but the first sign of adversity and they fall apart and throw tantrums like 3 year olds not getting their way.

He still has plenty to prove. Beat a bad LSU team on road and beat UGA at home. Do that and I am fully on board once again

Somewhat. But the fire Gus threads were dumb as frick and you all should feel bad about them. There was nothing legitimate about them.

Sometimes, people are not good at football watching. Team has improved all season and have been hurt by injuries to key players. I still have some concerns but you should always be looking for them to get better

Gus has made mistakes but has done a good job this year with all the new pieces

I agree. I'm just sitting here in the middle watching people run back and forth

Kinda how I feel. I mean it's hard to get over his boneheaded coaching that he does EVERY year during the first few games. It sucks knowing that we should have beaten Clemson both last year and this year if only we could get a first down and sustain one drive.

Of course, I just hope this year isn't a repeat of last year. UGA beat us last year with a much worse team than they have this year. But at the same time, even if we lose to UGA and bama it's still hard to justify firing a guy who lost to:

* Clemson (defending national champs who are a lock for the playoffs)
* UGA (top 5 team)
* Bama (#1 team who has a coach with 18 NC rings)

I mean, we should expect to go 50/50 with UGA (as we have for 100 years) and we should expect to win our share against the bammers, too. But, it just so happens Bama is having their greatest run ever (I think it's better than Bear's tenure) and UGA is on the rise. Even if Gus loses to UGA and bammer (but wins the rest of the games) I still don't think you can fire him. I get that having high expectations is good, but you also have to be somewhat realistic.

What if threatening to fire Gus is what got Gus to get his arse in gear?

I've never got off the bus for no other reason than I don't want to have start over. We are recruiting at a high clip and I don't want to have to waste a few years with a new guy.

Silver linings and all - we could be Bama and have every season be boring as shite. We could also be Tenner, Piss, MSU, LOLOLOL LSU, Bertie / Arkie,Misery, Kentucky, etc., etc., etc. We should count our blessings and appreciate perspective.

It's fricking Gus and it's fricking aggravating as hell. But here we go - week 5 and we figure out where we at and what we can do, and we start to do it well.

This year, we need to finish with UGA and Bama. Personally, I reckon I will be more than happy with a split. Lose them both, then....well.

Win them both? Give Gus Yaw Yaw's buyout and roll with it for the next three years.

Today is a good day to be an AU Tiger. Please enjoy it everyone!

Piko says hello. We are NOT jinxing us this year.

The SEC is top heavy, and bordering on bad. Texas A&M lost to UCLA. Ole Miss lost to Cal. LSU just lost to Troy in Tiger Stadium at night!

We missed 1 of 3 opportunities at a quality win against Clemson. If we don't beat both UGA and Alabama, I say fire the shite outta Gus. A four game losing streak to either UGA or Bama is unacceptable, much less both.
