I didn't say >220#. I said >200#. I also believe that it is a wider range, but 180# guys are going to get crushed carrying it 15+ times a game.

Eloquent as always.

I have been in agreement with Lanier all along, however, that we need some 200 pound plus RBs in this recruiting cycle.

As he pointed out, we aren’t going to have an all new offense. And as long as we have Gus’ basic offense, we need some bruisers to carry the rock.

This is pretty much a summary of what I have been saying for a long time

But Im kinda over it. Life is proving my point

I imagine most would agree with that. Lanier spent all offseason telling us we had to have 220-230+ backs. That's where I disagree.

I never said that. You take that back..

I said we need bigger guys than we are getting. You are not consistently going to grow 170 and 180 pound backs up to a size that can carry the load like we need in a Gus offense. Maybe every once in a while but not consistently.

We have enough fast guys. We need some power guys. Pettway is perfect. Hell, even Mason was perfect. But he was a beast and very durable. Barrett, Isgoneidieid or Cam Martin can not be our every down back. They are great compliments but not a every down back. It has not really been shown that Malik Miller can but he looks promising

Did you guys not see what happened last year when Pettway got hurt? Our running game went totally to shite. It will again, against good competition, if it happens again.

We need some bigger, stronger, every down backs for our "Gus" offense. Not more scat backs.

I know which is why I said this

The root of our disagreement is what size qualifies as every down. He didn't think 200 lb backs are capable of being every down backs. I disagree with that

I dont. Not consistently. I will set the O/U for power backs vs scat backs at 210

Carry on

yes, but its just one example. Gus is norotious for this dumb shite. dont act like you have never seen him run a guy until he can barely stand up before subbing him.

You said Mason was perfect but he was 205 which would make him a scatback...

Guide me Lanier. I'm so confused.

Not gonna dive back into this argument again but did wanna say one thing to this post

quote:

Barrett, Isgoneidieid or Cam Martin can not be our every down back

You shut your whore mouth, Barrett is gonna be a star and blow your 210 (good to see this number coming down) argument out of the water

Or at least I hope

John Kelly for Tennessee is listed at 205 (looks smaller than that) and he is a beast.

Yup our lack of depth really showed Saturday when our 3rd string RB rushed for over 100 yds...

Our third string RB is not an every down guy. We only have 2 every down guys unless Barrett is one. I'm a little scared what happens if Pettway goes down

We also have Malik Miller who isn't horrible

He is in Gus dog house which is why he isn't playing. That doesn't mean he isn't good, otherwise Kyle Davis name is Will Hastings

Oh I agree with that was just saying that little guy did work between tackles last Saturday which actually would disprove the original point about size of backs. He's only guy I think is scat back tho. I am high on Barrett and think he's an every down back

Miller is ready. Very under appreciated by our fan base, and our coaching staff too apparently. His time might come soon.

he is the second back we are talking about. I dont count KJ.

and yes Tre Was 205-210 and I said, "Even Mason" was a fit but he was a total
beast. I dont think you will be able to count on many his size doing what he did and not getting injured a lot

I am sorry young guys. This is just one of those instances in life where size matters.

You still act as if Auburn under Gus historically has larger backs. That just isn't factually correct

According to Bryan Matthews Johnson didn’t practice Sunday and is not expected to be available this week.

Any idea why?
