is that the problem or is it our bonehead coach will routinely give a rb 7 consecutive carries like he did with KJ Saturday? its a stupid move when you have so many guys, especially with a guy whose history is like KJ. Gus could take bammers team and fricking blow it.

When exactly? Are you talking about the 7 straight carries that were split between two drives with commercial timeouts littered in?

before saturday, KJ missed 1.75 games with injuries

Arkansas 2016 is literally the only full game he hasn't played in in 2 years

If he's made of glass to some, then Cadillac must have been running around Auburn in a wheel chair to you.

I dont know the amount of games he has missed so if you say it, I believe you. He has been injured a good amount of his career with Auburn. Hell, he was out of the spring game and missed a lot this spring/summer for it

He was not playing at 100% last year late when we needed him. Very ineffective.

He is not a guy we can count on. It has been proven. He is a fantastic back when healthy. It just does not happen often.

We need bigger, stronger backs for our system. I just cant understand why so many can not see that

a pulled hamstring and tweaked ankle have nothing to do with how big a runningback you are

pettway injured his hamstring last year running in the open field just like KJ did saturday

I have been in agreement with Lanier all along, however, that we need some 200 pound plus RBs in this recruiting cycle.

As he pointed out, we aren’t going to have an all new offense. And as long as we have Gus’ basic offense, we need some bruisers to carry the rock.

For that matter, I don’t care what kind of offense you run in the SEC. The defenses here are so stout that you need a 200 pound RB regardless.

We've talked about how you don't realize that Pettway is the only >220lb RB to rush for 1000+ yards for Gus before

So we need to replace our S&C coach

The gripe people have with RB's playing consecutive downs confuses me. I always thought that many times RB's actually get stronger as games go on and defensive lines wear down -- that it truly is all about momentum with running backs. At least I've seen where players and coaches have said this about Pettway.

Didn't he miss half of the last two years with ankle injuries?

We just need to adopt the Alabama steroid model.

Saturday's injury was a freak accident. There was no way to avoid that

I imagine most would agree with that. Lanier spent all offseason telling us we had to have 220-230+ backs. That's where I disagree.

I also disagree with the premise that somehow size = durability. Malik Miller and Kamryn Pettway are big backs and both suffered injuries. Fournette was beat up all last season for LSU. Nick Chubb, Todd Gurley, Marcus Lattimore and Bo Scarborough are other "big backs" that I can think of off the top of my head that have been hurt. RBs get beat up. Hard to avoid that. Obviously you need some sort of size to you to withstand the punishment but I happen to believe that range is much wider (190+ lbs) than what Lanier argued this summer. That's where we disagree and will probably continue to do so which is fine

Having the depth to withstand those injuries are crucial. I happen to believe AU has that and I think Saturday night proved it. AU's smallest RB rushed for over 100+ yds running between the tackles. Kinda proves the point that depth is there and guys can be effective even if they aren't 220+ lb monsters. Not sure how Saturday night was a "told ya so" moment in that regard

Day to day I am sure

Sucks for KJ. Dude is a leader, loves AU and is a great #2 punch to Pettway. Hoping we see more of Barrett moving forward
