Is it just me, or is this the worst recruitment year in almost a decade?

No excitement. No high profile commits. Just meh.

Feels like we are turning into Tennessee

Should take off come fall, assuming we don't crap the bed. I think we will close very strong in this class, recruits just need to see our offense.

Think that's a bit of an overreaction. We typically go through cycles where it feels like everyone is gonna sign with us then no one is. I suspect by start of the season we will have a better feel of how things stand. Also more than usual the success of this season will have a big impact on recruiting. We are getting hammered on the trail about Malzahn not being here next year. We saw the affects of that last year as well. Bottom line is if we win and do so with a bit more balance on offense we will get another top 10 class

Really need Fields which would hopefully build some momentum.

We are 14th now in rating per recruit. If it stays that way as we eventually pick up guys then yes it will be the worst recruiting year since Chiz's first year in 2009. Still would be one of Tubbs' better classes though FWIW.

And win big to give staff stability on the trail.

If he hasn't committed to another team by then & Stidham shows out against Clemson then I'll like our chances.

I say this every year but top recruits are waiting longer and longer to commit and schools that recruit well don't necessarily mind it. Gives coaches longer to evaluate athletes, especially for these summer camps.
Anyhow,

Bama has 4 commitments, Stanford 4, UGA 6, USC 7, and so on. This is more usual for Auburn than those schools but you see it happen more frequently than ever these days for top schools. Seemed like UF had about 5 commitments before NSD last year.

There's other factors too. New offense and new coaches combined with coaches we've had for a long time that are comfortable finalizing their position class on NSD eve.

It's definitely a "meh" time a of year to follow recruiting, though, and the lack of excitement or frustration over commitments seems fair, IMO. Should be interesting to see how this class shakes out

I will say this - by the time September rolls around we should have a really good idea as to how good of a class we will have, unless for some reason we start off sucking real bad in recruiting, but have an incredible year on the field by making it to the CFP and then maybe our horrendous class will turn around.

True I just meant that a lot of guys are supposedly committing in August. Based off comments by the start of the season the following players could be committed somewhere

5* QB Justin Fields
4* WR Matthew Hill
4* DT Coynis Miller
4* RB Asa Martin
4* CB Kyler McMichael
4* CB Jalyn Armour-Davis --> tho I think he's backed off that some
4* LB Zakoby McClain
4* LB Michael Harris
4* LB/Buck Richard Jibunor
4* DE/Buck Caleb Tannor
3* WR Shedrick Jackson
3* CB Juanyeh Thomas
3* ATH Tae Provens
3* DE Andres Fox

Off the top of my head all those guys have specifically said they plan on announcing before the season. IF and that's a huge if all those guys do in fact commit we will have a much better picture of where things stand this cycle

I do agree with this. Heck I am irritated we haven't gotten a commit since A-Day

I'm kind of glad to still have so many slots to fill. If the fall ball is good then there'll be quality to fill with. And if it's not chances are today's commits might not be so committed any ways.

KN says Harold Joiner plans on announcing in August now. When Joiner was asked about his top group of AU/BAMA/LSU/UGA he says that best being a 10, LSU is a 10 and UGA is a 8 or 9. Sounds like at best we are #3

Me too, I think we are in it for a few really good 2 and 3 star players.

Pretty sure we have backed way off on recruiting him.

And the ones who flip to Bama magically become 4 & 5* prospects.
