From early spring Mack Wilson was wearing Alabama gear in public and telling people he wanted to go to Alabama. Why would we continue to recruit him?

We recruit tons of players that were always going to other schools and apparently, according to the insiders on this board, we somehow feel good about a lot of them all the way to the end when the inevitable happens.

These stories are always somewhere in the middle. It was like the Preston Williams story from last year. When Preston Williams came on his OV, he was decked out in UTk gear, played as UTk on NCAA and trashed anything not UTk. We didn't send him home though until he went all Bob Marley on the OV.
With guy of talent level like Mack Wilson or PWill, we recruit and spend time on them even though we likely will lose because if something happens we are there.
BUT
It is only worth playing that recruiting game when they don't have red flags. When PWill indulged on the OV it no longer was worth it. For Mack Wilson, when he is pro your rival, arrogant on visits and doesn't have the personality why bother with the time?
If Mack Wilson was all auburn from day 1, we would take him. We know he isn't and we do have some concerns so the cost-benefit isn't enough to try and be 2nd

Lyndell will be a bammer. He's using Florida instead of Auburn to create suspense since we are apparently taking the Tuberville approach to recruiting against saban (on defense anyway).

Happens a lot to highly recruited kids. They're hype is built up so much they end up having a good senior year but it looks pedestrian to many who follow cruiting and expect 27 sacks 10 ints ect...because they're a 5 star.
No denying Mack's talent it will be interesting to see how Saban uses him in that defense. He would play the Jeff Holland roll here.
Speaking of Holland he and Tim Irvin have been awesome! Great gets for us last class.

right now we have 3 freshmen and 3 sophomores starting on both sides of the ball not including Tim Irvin who plays a lot. We also have Holland and Cowart playing a good bit on defense and Kerryon Johnson picking up playing time on offense.
