Bump...

so, several are taking the challenge for the Auburn faithful to attempt to make GM the HC at Arkansas, and other are leaching on to leach.

Is there better options? I say yes, but who?

The only person who I think is a cut above anyone else is Gundy.

I realize leach has his faults but I believe his toughness on his players and his preaching on competing and being tough could turn this around.

I need to do more reading into frost. I like Campbell a lot, but no real southern ties unless he is getting them while at Iowa st into texas.

We need guys with Texas and LA ties. I'll take a guy with Florida and Ga ties, who gets a staff with the other 2.

This is part of the reason I like leach. Coached in Texas for a long time.

Chad Morris has it all. Former President of Texas High School Coaches Association, Offensive coordinator at Clemson where he recruited extensively in Georgia, Florida and the rest of the southeast, runs an innovative offense, believes in defense, and has SMU turned around. This will likely be the only year we have a shot at him.

You mean Chad Morris?
I agree he would be great. Unfortunately it really looks like he would jump ship for Aggy at the first opportunity. But hey, we could always hope that Sumlin sticks around awhile down there. He has them playing good ball.

That's why you lock him up with an SEC non-compete.

I really like Morris and a lot of what he brings to the table from a recruiting, coaching, schematic and pedigree standpoint. On top of coaching at a school where it's tough to win, he also inherited a tough situation at SMU in the wake of June Jones essentially quitting on the program and not recruiting and has worked to build it back.

He's at or near the top of my list.

My order would be:
1. Leach.... don't know if he's interested but we should at least inquire
2. Neal Brown.... this guy is gonna be a star.... We could get him at a decent price right now. And he's from the Tony Franklin, Hal Mumme, Leach tree of offense.
3. Chad Morris... would get us back into Texas and he's an innovator offensively which is what we need to compete in this league.
4. Norvell..... not 100% sold on him but Arkansas ties and seems like a fast riser which means people like his work.
5. Matt Campbell.... don't know how much sense this hire makes from a recruiting standpoint but he can coach.
6. Charlie Strong.... we've danced all around this hire a couple of times for various reasons. Might be time to bring him home with the right hire for OC.
7. Gundy.... would probably be at the top of my list but I don't think he's going anywhere
8. Venables.... going the route of a defensive mind is risky but could pay off big.
9. Gus..... mixed feelings here at best..... but it could work.
10. Blake Anderson.... I've met the guy and he's genuine. He loves it at A-State but would have to think seriously about the jump to the SEC. I would love this hire but I don't know if our BOT would allow us to "stoop" so low as to hire Arkie Lights HC.

I don't know how much truth there is in it, but folks were saying he turned down the Baylor job last year because he demanded an out in the non-compete for A&M. If that's true, we probably couldn't lock him up

Tell him if he wants big boy money this is how it goes. He will be waiting a long time for rumlin to lose that job. He wins just enough to never lose that job.

Fine, give him an out... but make it expensive so that ATM buys us a complete new staff.

There's a good chance Sumlin stays barring a collapse, 99.9% chance if he beats LSU (which is definitely possible). If he does stay - with all the young talent they have playing this year - they'll be REALLY good next year and the next. I think some crazy number like 3/4 of their starters are RS/true freshmen and sophomores this season.

If an average fan can see the above, you better believe any coach holding out for the job also sees that it could be 2-3 years before the job even opens.

Not much truth to that. He was more turned off by the situation and the Trustees.

In that case

1a. Justin Fuentes
1b. Chad Morris
1c. Matt Campbell

2. Arkansas Waterfall

Hopefully we can land one of those guys. Unless there is a left field candidate out there somewhere (and I'm sure there's a dozen of them), these guys are my favorites. Leach would be in another tier below Gundy in my eyes.

My only thing is that there's nothing tying Campbell to Arkansas that I know of. I mean he's a midwest guy who's coached in the midwest. I would be really concerned about his ability to recruit in the SEC. Dude can coach but I don't know if he's connected enough in the south to be successful.
