He's not demanding a spot, he's saying that if he were offered the chance, he would walk on.

No, he is saying he would play as a walk-on(since none of the other SEC schools offered a scholly like he expected), but he has to be given a spot before he would enroll.

He isn't saying, "I want to play for Arkansas, so I'm going to enroll and try out for the team in August."

It is getting to the point where he is going to need 2beezes help to speed up the application/transfer process...

Dale, I am starting to get the feeling you are going to be disappointed. No inside info, just the way smoke seems to be blowing.

Don't worry, he will only be here a year or two, then you can root for the Hogs again.

That's fine.

It is the sense of entitlement shown by him and those who are supporting him as well as other players from the state like him who think the UofA is good enough only after they flame out elsewhere.

He isn't owed anything, especially a spot on the team, from the UofA. Grandstanding in the media to try and get a spot is going about it all wrong.

It's not about any of that. It's about Arkansas being the best team it can possibly be, and right now giving Dyer a chance would help us get there

It isn't a given, he's hasn't played in almost 2 years.

He was just as much of a problem in the locker room as he was passing tests.

Does he have upside? Sure.

Is the downside just as equal? yes.

I understand where he's coming from. If he enrolls at Arkansas with no promise of being on the team, then that fricks him if there's a FBS team that has a scholly for him.

If he wanted to play this season and he enrolled at UARK and then had no spot and had to quickly transfer out he'd have no choice but to go the FCS route.

Frankly, I'd rather see him at UAPB. Monte Coleman could likely help keep him on a leash better than we could do up here on the hill.

But if there's a spot for him to walk on, the bleeding heart in me says it'd make a great story, now I also don't want him taking carries away from Jwill or Collins or becoming a malcontent when he's sitting 3rd string and Mike of old creeps back into the picture.

He has a scholly offer from like 5 FBS schools.

If he wants to walk on, he should have already applied to transfer and be getting ready for try outs next month, but that isn't what he is saying, he wants an invited walk-on position at least.

He isn't going about it like the LR players who transferred back from FCS schools who sat out a year and payed their own way. (The DT and CB).

Hm... A lot of little birds are suggesting that ex-Aub RB Mike Dyer to Arkansas looks like it has legs. Pardon the pun. Hm...

Monte might do all in the world he could do, but I just don't see PB as the place Dyer needs to be.
I've lived there and worked there.
No disrespect to any of you who do live there still.
But it ain't what it used to be.

SEC reporter.

I heard something today I never even thought of, they could be waiting until after SEC media days to finalize this, can you imagine the shite storm if they announced it a few days before?

That's exactly what I was thinking. BB would be the highlight of Media days

I just want it to be decided and announced one way or another so I can go ahead and convince myself that that's the right call. I'm tired of going back and forth on whether I want this to happen.

On one hand, Dyer is an offensive weapon that we need on a pretty depleted offense. We all think we've got 2 home runs in Collins and Willians but Dyer is the only one who we KNOW can be an elite SEC back. He could very easily win us an extra game or 2. I also do think Dyer has gotten himself straight and want him to get another chance to un-screw up. His public perception is a lot worse than anything he ever did IMO. He smoked weed and legally owned a gun that some of his dumbass teammates took to rob someone with. He's hardly Aaron Hernandez or even Marquel Wade.

On the other hand, Bielema would automatically be media fodder (at least in the beginning) for being hypocritical about preaching "character" and "not welcoming back players who left" and we've had enough bad pub in the past year and a half. Dyer could also take away from the development of Collins and Williams. He could frick up rapport that our players have with their new coach. Not because of anything he would do directly (because I really do think he'd be a good boy if he came. He knows he has no choice) but because of how it would look to a lot of the players. Some players would probably welcome him with open arms because they just want to win but I'd bet a lot of them would resent him off the bat.

Who knows. I'm 50/50 right now. When a decision is made public I'll jump on that side

So what? He's not in a position to make demands. He has nothing to offer the university besides walking on. He's just saying that he would walk on here if given the opportunity. He has no bargaining power at all in this situation.

And yeah I think it's safe to say that he has enough potential as a football player to warrant being given a spot as a walk on without having to try out. That shouldn't even be a talking point. No one on campus who isn't already on the team has accomplished 1/10 of what Dyer has as a football player.

Well, he should be great at negotiating a contract in the NFL as he has had plenty of practice from making demands to college teams, whether it be getting his buddy a scholly out of HS or a spot on the team as a walk-on after he threw away scholarships at two different schools.

The kid isn't in any position to make demands these days. I don't have a clue how Dyer operates now in 2013 and I definitely am not one of those that scorns kids for life if they leave Arkansas. I can't for the life of me see why BB letting him walk on means there will undoubtedly be locker room drama and general bull shite. A grudge from his HS & Auburn days is

Some of you give these kids like Dyer way too much credit these days and the coaches way too little.
