Someone please tell me why i should be optimistic about this hire. And please save the "because Saban hired him" bs because Saban also hired Greg Brown.

Not much to explain. I just don't think he's that good of a coach.

We had good Dlines while he was here. Why dont you think he is a good coach?

One argument to the "knows what Saban likes" part could be that it appears Saban is trying to change some stuff up, so why go with someone who knows what he likes?

Granted, I'm fine with the Bo hire, but I can see the argument on the other side.

Our Dline was successful when he was here the first time

Like who? Dareus? Ok, that's one. Cody? The best thing about him was that he weighed a ton and was hard to move out of the way.

You do realize he was at Alabama from 2007-2010, right?

well yeah, that is a top 10 overall draft pick, and a 2nd round pick for starters.

Is that not the point of being a noseguard in our defense? It earned him national honors, so it must have worked out for him.

Looking at the numbers might help you.

The thing that helped Cody the most was losing about 30-40 pounds so he didn't get tired so quickly. I think SC helped Cody more than Bo did.

And Dareus was a top 10 pick and talent but I don't feel like we got the most out of his talent. He underachieved his 1 year as a starter though that was partly due to suspension and injury

lol okay, so this is apart of your justification to thinking that this is a bad hire? Excellent.

Well, Bo was here for 4 years, and outside of 2 guys the others are largely forgettable.

I think Davis is a very strong hire. Great recruiting ties in La. and Miss. Knows the expectation and did some very strong things his first go around. I also believe he has a strong background as a strength and conditioning coach which i think could be very beneficial to guys like Lake and Ivory. I believe they have been disappointments to this point and maybe a change in coaching style will help! RTR

Gilberry, Deadrick are both in the league. Greenwood was in the league.

However, all that doesnt even really matter when you look at the rush defense rankings for college football when he was at Bama.

Chapman and Deaderick.

Also Lorenzo Washington and Luther Davis were very solid players. Played above their talent level imo.

Nick Gentry. Laid the foundation for Square.

The man can coach. His dline this past season was way ahead of our in sacks and tfls

He is a good coach, but I would not expect our pass rush to improve.
