I'll take him. He knows the system and really developed some guys when he was here. Dareus and Cody for starters.

What was the story on him leaving when he did?

Terrible. Rumph was considered an upgrade over Bo when he was hired.

Yep, I like that he is back. He is a good coach.

Popular opinion was that he was forced out

But it never really worked out that way.

He hasn't been hired yet. Lucky said that "barring unforeseen circumstances" Bo would be the next DL coach.

I have learned that Bo Davis is coming back to Alabama as the defensive line coach, replacing Chris Rumph, who took the same position at Texas.

Davis previously coached at Alabama under Saban.

Its a recycling hire, coaching trees have them. Davis has been with Saban since LSU, knows what Saban likes.

Rumph was hired in part to get Clowney, as Clowney said Rumph was his favorite assistant.

Not much to explain. I just don't think he's that good of a coach.

It's a solid hire. It may not be a headliner, but these hires rarely are. I would have loved to get Ed Orgeron, but that was probably never going to happen.
