Well, it isn't much, but that's one less spot on the Strip .

Wife and I finally tried Southern Ale House this past weekend. Very impressed with the place. Food was great and their micro selection is nice. We'll be going back.

Has anyone been to or heard anything about the new R Davidson Chophouse in Temerson Square? Looks really nice, and took the big corner spot where Tin Top used to be.

I don't know if anyone on this board is into vinyl, but Oz Music always has a really kick-arse clearance section of new(as in unopened) records. I stop by every time I'm in T-town to get great records for cheap.

Beyond that, their vinyl selection new and used is very vast and comprehensive.

I'm gonna check that out. I scour the thrift stores once every few months, I've found some good stuff but it's a total crapshoot and never in good condition

I didn't know the Chophouse was open yet.

A couple spots over, New Orleans Fry House is changing its name to The Kitchen.

And apparently Tuscaloosa Burger (same owner as New Orleans Fry House and Cravings) is closed for good. It was located near Corks & Tops off Bryant Dr. It's a great location for drinking and hanging out near campus if you don't feel like going to the strip. Hopefully something cool will open there.

I went to Tuscaloosa Burger a couple of times. Had a really good set up. I thought it would be a hit being on campus and all. Nice deck out back and really cool setting especially in the spring

Yeah the outside area was awesome with a bball hoop and multiple tv's.

I was there a couple months ago on a Sunday and it was packed with people watching NFL. There was a table of Steelers fans, another table of Saints fans, etc...

I don't know why they didn't make it but for some reason they would wait till they were completely out of craft beer before restocking. Kinda frustrating when you go there to drink craft beer and they don't have any.

Someone else will get the spot and improve on it. Simplify the menu for lower cost and keep beer on deck. Drink specials on Thursdays.

That building is cursed for some reason. It's been a dozen different restaurants over the years, and a bar/pub a couple of times. Longest tenant was probably Capstone Grill(I think that's what it was called) through most of the 90's. I remember it having a pretty cool back courtyard. It was a cajun restaurant for a while as well in the 90's. I think it was originally a cajun restaurant as well, Storyville, in the 80's. Doubled as a concert venue at that time as well.

I went to Tuscaloosa Burger a few times and really liked it. But I agree, someone could come in and make improvements and do really well in that location. It's perfect place to grab some beer or a burger before a basketball or baseball game.

I'd prefer a place I haven't been before, so preferably something that has been open for less than 5 years.

It's a touch out of the way, but Southern Ale House is good. Good burgers and sandwiches, and a good beer selection, if beer is your thing. Just across the river near Indian Hills CC.

It's too late now but Avenue Pub was the answer.
