its hard to have a discussion online about this stuff. People (on both sides) speak with too much hyperbole, overreact to a single game focusing on what supports their pre-conceived notions and always seem to try and make it a "i'm right and you are wrong" type of discussion.

easier to just state your view and not engage in argumentative back and forth - all that is just my opinion of course.

One can wonder why defenses play contain so well vs Alabama.

As noted, we put a lot of pressure on their freshman qb but he still managed to scramble and look downfield to make some big plays. It's not unreasonable for an Alabama fan to expect our qb to do the same. Tua did last week. Their freshman qb did last night.

Didn't you say "reading comprehension is fundmental"?

How many times have I said he struggled and it wasn't a good performance?

Makes me wonder how well you can read and comprehend.

Did you notice that the A&M true freshman, also under pressure, avoided the rush but still managed to make some big plays downfield?

Did you also see him fumble and throw and INT?

Did you also see he had a QBR of 27.7?

Did you see he had WR make the big catches when we had WR drop them?

Did you see he had refs continually extending his failed drives with PI's?

You're so transparent and it is pathetic.

If only it were a single game, there wouldn't be so much discussion of it. It's a recurring problem, and it has been since last season.

Ridley didn't visibly react frustrated towards Hurts last night because of that one hopped pass. A receiver expects an occasional bad pass. When, though, it happens so often, and when a receiver gets open and the qb tucks and runs for a few yards, or throws out of bounds anyway, rather than getting the ball to the receiver, well then the receiver might understandably get frustrated.

My point was they played contain better than we did. Jalen was consumed most of the night however, had a few big runs and made them pay. He played an average game. The drops hurt us hoenstly.

This doesn’t support any argument Huddie, Football players get frustrated its a competitive sport. That doesn’t mean Ridley doesn’t support Jalen that is pure fantasy.

In his world there weren't any drops. Only bad thrown balls.

No hyperbole. He literally says this on the bottom of the last page.

This is the level of delusion blind hatred brings.

I don't think A&M's defense is better than Alabama's but if they did play contain better than we did, it probably has to do with the fact that their qb is more capable of beating our defense with the passing game.

I saw their qb scrambling all over the field. I am pretty sure we got more sacks than they did. That's containment, yet their qb made more big plays downfield.

You haven't yet cited those 9 dropped passes. Any day now.

But I never said Ridley doesn't "support" Hurts. Stick to the facts.

If our rub game fails and We have to rely on passing then we can have trouble. I think we could come up with better run plays. Some creativity

We had four sacks, they had three. We had seven tackles for a loss, they had nine. Both QB were very elusive.

Your point is a wash.

BTW, their QB made those plays because the WR caught the balls thrown to them. If you switch Kirk with Foster, they score 3 points and we score 38.

No. I said we had more sacks than they did, and I said their qb got pressure, had to scramble, but still made more big plays down the field. This is in response to the comments that Hurts was contained and got pressure so he couldn't make the plays downfield. Well their young qb did just that. That's not a wash. I wish it were.

Can you read and comprehend? Where did I say there were nine dropped passes?

YOU said they didn't drop nine catchable balls. Not one person stated that. You brought that up yourself.

I retorted that he didn't throw nine bad passes.

Again, read, comprehend then respond.

Hurts is an athletic college qb who didn't play very well last night but has played well in other games this season.
He wasn't helped by the oline or receivers last night (not making an excuse just stating a fact that very few on the offense had a good game last night) - plenty of subpar performances to go around.

That said, in watching Alabama, Hurts is improving in his second year and getting better throwing the ball; however, he is going to have off games and miss on throws He makes up for that by being one of the best runners in the SEC and making huge plays with his legs. In college, that is a recipe for a lot of success, this isn't the NFL and having Hurts look for two / three reads in his progression and then go to a scramble drill can work at a championship level with the Bama Defense and running game.

You conveniently ignored the part of my posts where I pointed out why Mond was successful doing that.

His WRs caught the ball.

Ours did not.

Period

Review back in this thread. In response to comments that Foster dropped a pass, I said that Hurts missed on more passes than were dropped. That's a fact and all the spin you can manage doesn't change it one jot nor tittle. The point, since you fail to understand it, is that it's silly to blame Foster or the receivers but give Hurts a pass.

Hurts played well the last game. He does occasionally have a good game, which is why I have said over and over, since last year, that he is inconsistent. I've seen consistently good quarterbacks at Alabama. I've seen consistently good quarterbacks on other teams. Those qbs occasionally have bad games. Hurts occasionally has a good game.

I think many have said Hurts, along with the oline and wrs, all turned in subpar performances this week.

And I agree with that.
