This game has me nervous. For the first time in a long time I have some doubts about winning. I don't know if it's because my trust in Hurts has wavered lately or the Kiffin departure or what. I know we have a dominate D but I keep thinking back to last year when our D was great and Clemson put up 40+. I just have zero confidence that our team can win in another shootout with this offense. Do I think we can win? Yes, but I'm also aware we could lose. Help me out here guys. Tell me how bad Clemson sucks.

(Win or lose I'll be fine. After our run it'll take more than losing this game to really effect me)

Clemson really isn't that good. They were lucky to play an overrated Ohio State that doesn't have a decent QB.

To be fair Hurts hasn't been great lately either. I do be believe he'll progress nicely but he's regressed in the second half of the season.

Clemson is good.

When Watson is "on", they're very good.

That being said, if both teams play to their fullest potential, we win.

Pretty much that.

Clemson is inconsistent but they have really started to play better down the stretch. Their A game would require our A game to get a victory.

They struggled with Louisville, FSU, and Troy and lost to Pitt. Athlete for athlete they are as good as anyone we'll see this year though. Watson is obviously the X factor for them.

I'm in the same boat as OP. I think we'll win but for the first time all season a loss doesn't seem unfathomable. That's just the way it is. Clemson has great players at the spots that you need them to exploit Alabama. They are essentially a souped up version of early season Ole Miss. Great receivers, great tight end, athletic defense, athletic QB, but Clemson actually has a good tailback

- We have the better coach.
- Our defense isn't just better, it's on another level than any other defense in the country and the stats prove it.
- The players are motivated and aren't going to be complacent.
- They've had a good week of practice.
- We should be able to run the ball on Clemson's Defense, which will help keep Watson off the field.
- We are freaking out because we covered against a Top 4 Team
- Everyone is in love with Clemson because they beat an Ohio State team that was more than likely overvalued.
- As good as Watson is, he is turnover prone and our defense feasts on creating turnovers.
- Sark was in charge of scouting Clemson and coming up with the gameplan well before Kiffin left.
- I really believe a lot of the problem on offense has been taken care of with Kiffin gone
- Reuben Foster
- Jonathan Allen

Saban's championship game record: 12-1 (7-1 in SEC, 5-0 in nattys)

Success is not a continuum, but the guy obviously knows how to get a team ready to play in big games. He will have this team ready to play.

This is the key....our defense has to contain Watson better than last year. I realize that is stating the obvious.

I'm not saying this isn't true but I heard this last year and they matched up pretty good with our D. And as good as we are games like Ole Miss still happen.

IF we run the ball. We all know Kiffin wasn't run heavy (besides QB runs) and we don't know Sarks style yet.

It comes down to Watson, again. Compare position groups

- Quarterback : Big Edge Clemson
- Running Back : Big Edge Alabama
- Receivers/Tight Ends : Push
- Offensive Line : Push
- Defensive Line : Edge Alabama
- Linebackers : Edge Alabama
- Secondary : Edge Alabama

We are better than them basically across the board and we matchup pretty well with them, regardless of what the idiots on TV say. They're greatest strength is pass defense and pass rush, while their biggest weakness is run defense against teams that run at them.

If Watson plays lights out like last year and our defense can't figure it out and we muddle around on offense, we will probably lose.

If Watson throws his usually interception or two, we establish a solid run game and we contain them to less than 6.00 YPP, we are going to win the football game.

There are more ways we can win than ways Clemson can win. Does that make it automatic that we win? Not at all. It's the national championship game, that is the way this generally works.

However, I feel good about it, and I feel really good about our mindset and prep level going in.

It's all relative, as we played the best three defenses we faced all year the last three games of the season(besides LSU.) I wouldn't call it a regression so much as a freshman playing much better defenses.

Didn't help that his OC was gone to Boca Raton in his mind.

As far as the OP being a piss pants, you have to think that Pruitt will do a better job planning and play calling against Watson than Smart did. Much lesser coordinators held Clemson to under thirty points this year.

Also, you know it's been eating at our defense how poorly they played last year.

As far as the offense, just rest easy knowing that we have the best group of RBs that they will face all year, and possibly the best group of WRs. Yeah, Hurts hasn't been getting them the ball so much lately, but we have three guys that can take it to the house on any given play. UF, and UW both have substantially better DBs than Clemson does.

Sark has been watching and analyzing our offense all season long, and the players have been VERY receptive of him so far.

Talent wise this may be true, but Clemson uses their weapons way better on the outside than Bama has this year so i would say Clemson advantage there

I would say their secondary is probably a push, and Bama has a pretty big LBer advantage.

The rest I'm pretty much with you

Clemson isn't the same team as last year. They lost to Pitt. They've come close to losing games all season long, including the opener to Auburn. Last year they were smoking everyone.
I think this is a much more beatable team.
That said, they are definitely the second best team in the country and we'll have to really bring our best performance

Except that directly comes into play in the QB difference IMHO, and our guys have shown they are just as dangerous as any other WR group when they get those shots - which generally happen less than other teams.

All that matters is how Alabama plays on Monday night against Clemson, but multiple people in and around the program have told me that the Tide were as crisp and dialed-in offensively earlier this week in practice as they've been all season.
