Dabo needs to be our next coach. Period.

There is literally nothing closer to a match made in heaven.

I agree. I thought Dabo's success was mostly due to Watson being his QB, but he's shown he can continue to compete for titles now with the way his team has played this year. I'd be surprised if they're not undefeated going into the playoffs

Assuming Saban retires at some point in the somewhat near future (say within 4-6 years) there is almost no doubt that Dabo would be our first choice to replace him.

As OP said, you could not create a more perfect candidate in a lab, in terms of pedigree, youth, and accomplishment.

They were trending strongly upward even before Watson.

It's also clear Watson had a ton of talent around him too. The ability to recruit top level talent is probably the #1 most important thing about being a college coach. Everything else flows from that.

On recruiting level he is outstanding considering how well he recruits regionally most of his roster.

Really hope we get Dabo but I don’t think it’s a given that he’d accept an offer. He’s got it made at Clemson and they will open the checkbook to keep him.

Hope everyone gives him a big cheer when he’s honored on the field Saturday.

Make Clemson pay but always have an option B. I'm high on his OC J. Scott and the OC at PSU.

I hope so too, but I think he stays at Clemson.

I don't see how he's not at this point.

As of today he is clearly the guy that you immediately target, hope Saban is involved in convincing to come and make it clear to him it is him and nobody else.

Even then, as others have said, I'm not sure he leaves Clemson. I do think it's better that we'll be going after him after the high of his first title and reaching the top wears off. Right now? No shot. In 3 years if they continue winning but maybe don't win a title? Things could be very different then.

Saban's contract runs through 2022. He might leave by 2020, but I doubt it.

In 2022, Dabo will be in his 20th year at Clemson, and his 15th at HC. He'll be pretty well entrenched. 15 year head coaches who are playoff contenders don't leave for other jobs.

I feel like a broken record because I've posted this a dozen times, but Dabo wants the Alabama job.

I have a friend whose family is very close with Dabo's and has had conversations with him regarding the position.

He wants it, but wants to be the one and only candidate. He feels he has earned the right to be the first guy contacted and won't be a Plan B.

It would be an insult if he isn't the only one considered.

For me there is no other alternative. The fact he and Saban get along well and he understands Alabama, from Alabama, etc.. means a lot to me.

I also have a friend who’s close to Dabo. He’ll be with Dabo Saturday and their families visit each other every Spring. He says it will be tough to tear Dabo away from Clemson. Of course that can change and I hope it does.

It will be a fight regardless to get him because Clemson won’t let him go easy. We’ll need to be ready open the checkbook and do what it takes. We should never settle when it comes to coaching and there are only so many elite coaches out there. Coaching is the most valuable commodity in the sport.
