I get that, but I also think he’s at a weaker program.

Saban lost to Zook so it happens.

Clemson should have lost to NC State last year, State missed a field goal at the end of the game that would have won it. They came that close to not making the playoffs last year.

This is what scares me about Dabo. He’s good for one of these absolute bed shittings like Syracuse every season.

There are very few teams that avoid these type of losses. Just look at last weekend.

Saban's build the program so that it is virtually a machine, but earlier in his career he wasn't immune to them either. He lost to UAB in Tiger Stadium and ULM in Bryant-Denny. We're spoiled. It is a beautiful thing, but it just isn't normal for college football.

That's going to be the hardest post-Saban adjustment. Even if we continue to be elite, it will be unimaginable to think we could continue to be as utterly dominant as we are now.

Yeah the Bama fan base melts after wins. Hell Clemson played like crap tonight. That could have easily been a blow out. If they don't get the strip/6 and the Cuse QB doesn't get hurt and have to come out on the 1 yard line. NC State and FSU gonna give Clemson hell.

You know what. I still believe in this thread. Dabo should have the job if he wants it and is still a quality coach.

He's young and quite frankly I'm glad he's making his mistakes and learning his lessons at Clemson before coming to us.

Saban lost some pretty bad games at Michigan State and LSU. Dabo shouldn't have to be perfect.

Do what?

Clemson has killed everyone they've played so far.

Sure, everyone loses a game now and then. It’s incredibly hard to be perfect in college football these days. I know that. My concern is (and this has been occurring even since Dabo was an assistant) his losses aren’t to teams that you could see coming. They aren’t to FSU or Louisville or even NC State last year. Those teams are in the upper half of the ACC and there’s no shame in losing to them. The scary ones are the ones to Pitf and Syracuse and the like. That’s the SEC equivalent of losing to Kentucky or Missouri. And there’s one of those almost every season.

Maybe we are spoiled. I just can’t stomach the thought of becoming Oklahoma: beat Ohio State in The Horseshoe then shite the bed at home against Iowa State. That’s Dabo. Make him an underdog and he’ll whip your arse up and down the field. Make him a big favorite and he will play to the level of his opponent. I know some of that is college football these days, but the truly great coaches find ways to motivate their teams even when they are playing Slippery Rock. You have to be able to do that nowadays or you’ll find yourself on the short end of a Syracuse score.

Except for that 8 point win over Auburn. They were tied with BC going into the 4th quarter. Just lost to Syracuse.

Pathetic excuse for defending your title. Syracuse was a 24 point dog.

Before tonight they had, by far, the best resume of any team in college football.

They lost their starting QB in the 2nd half against Syracuse.

We want to rationalize our win over Florida State using the same logic.

You dont think Clemson should have a decent backup QB? And their defense is supposedly all world. This is Syracuse we are talking about. That's a bad loss.

It's not like they were doing much before he got hurt.

Was Bryant not a freshman? The backup was a true freshman.

Clemson has lost a ton of talent in the last 3 years and they're still stacked.

You going to roast the guy for not reaching 3 straight national championships? And they still pretty much control their own destiny.

Dabo is awesome.

And Alabama lost to a 5-6 LSU in 1993. We lost to Stephen Garcia in 2010.

Games like this happen. Nobody said Dabo was invincible. Still waiting for some to suggest a better option.

Yea this was a bad loss. Should have been able to run the ball and play D against Syracuse. Guess we should just get rid of Saban and bring in Dabo now.
